Biography:

Jaclyn Heyen is a multi-media artist originally from Seward, Nebraska. She is a Harley owner and rider since 2007 and her creative work is based on her experiences on the road. Her masters’ thesis, Theorizing Soundwalls: Listening Within the Noise and creation of Tinny Scoots, an audio controller built out of the body of a scooter, opened up the need to share her experiences on her motorcycle. Her most recent work called BlueRoad is a series of multi-media recordings of her rides on her Harley she calls Blue. These recordings not only record the sounds and sights of the road but her journey to finding her authentic self.

Jaclyn received her BM and MM in Music Technology at Florida International University. She is currently working on the Adaptive Use Musical Instruments Project at the Deep Listening Institute in Kingston, NY.
Her pieces have been performed at many festivals, conferences and concerts including Subtropics 20 and FTM10. Her articles have been published in the International Computer Music Conference (ICMC) Proceedings and Making Waves Journal.

Jaclyn is also known for her Eating Disorder Advocacy. Her album Journey To Worthy is about her journey of recovery from an Eating Disorder, depression and self-injury. She has been a consultant for the Renfrew Center of Florida and has played and spoken at events around the country. Her music has been motivational to people who are in recovery around the world. Press:

"Gotta Love Judy was an interesting sound study depicting the inner psychological trauma of the troubled actress."
Sabrina Young - Feminist Theory and Music Conference UNC Greensboro: Concert 2 Music Review

“Heyen used to suffer alone. Now she’s using her guitar and strong voice and her story to reach others who suffer, too.”
Colleen Kenny - Lincoln Journal Star

“I started writing songs about what I went through and what I was going through. It became my way of communicating, getting out the issues I had stuffed down for so many years. I had great encouragement from my team. They pushed me and were there for me.”
Jackie Heyen - Renfrew Connections
