“The next song, ‘We Will Rise’, has a lot of the similar elements as the first song with cool little guitar riffs and a great drum beat that rumbles through like thunder before kicking in with a massive lead. Already it’s obvious that this band are really talented musicians and know how to layer and play with each other and compliment each other too. The vocals take a different strain about 2 minutes in that have a raw Hives type of feel. The singers voice really compliments the music.”

The charismatic quintet started their humble beginnings in 2009 and have grown exponentially since then with their britpop sound edged with gritty punk, which can be heard through the two EPs available free of charge on their bandcamp. The band have played renowned venues, such as the O2 Academy in Birmingham, and not only local, as seen by their various shows at the Camden Barfly, and continue to play when and where they can. This reflects in their ever-growing fanbase, who managed to max out the amount of free downloads on their most recent self-titled EP, containing influences such as Dinosaur Jr and the Replacements.”

“The first band to play was Open to Fire, a five piece indie/alternative band from Birmingham. After seeing Open to Fire at the Sunflower Lounge about six months ago, I have got to say that this band has greatly improved in that time, the band now seem to work much better together overall. The set started off sounding very much like The Fratellis or The Raconteurs, with jumpy rhythms and pounding bass in every song. Each song started off with memorable riffs from the lead guitarist who also provided some excellent solos throughout. He also deserves a mention for his backup vocals, they provided a harmonic crutch to some of the vocalists longer notes.The lead singer kept it all together throughout. The guy’s a charismatic singer and front man though, judging by 90% of the front row made up of young women and one over excited Super-Hans (from Peep Show) look-a-like. The set ended with an above average rendition of Ticket to Ride by The Beatles which had the whole crowd singing along”
