"Benbecula venture South over Hadrian's Wall once more to bring one of the most wonderfully written and melodic pieces of electronica to grace these shores. Ochre aka Christopher Leary, first came to the public's attention via his album for Toytronic in 2004 entitled A Midsummer Nice Dream. During that time and up until autumn 2005, he has offered a steady output of remix work and compilation appearances via the likes of Subvariant, Boltfish, Audiobulb, Igloo and Unschooled.
Where the Toytronic album was a 'best of' collection of older recordings spanning a couple of years, the album Lemodie for Benbecula, is an especially commissioned body of work.
Ochre's take on the electronic format takes the medium to its melodic limit, with an orchestral feel and precision that would challenge the best contemporary traditional composers.
Benbecula once again embraces the advance of music within a medium. Rather than pushing the noise envelope via the technology available, Ochre expertly demonstrates that the most complex of compositions can be realised in a human and organic way via technology, possibly more than anyone before him."
