Bio
Melodic Deathcore band from Abitibi, we like to promote the straightedge ideology.
About
In October 2004, Simon Turcotte, Benoit Breton and three of their friend start an extreme metal band under the name Traumatic Landscape. In January 2005, the band give its first gig. Later that year, they plan to record a demo with Pascal Letendre but the project is aborted; the band judged that their songs were not mature enough and that it was advisable to wait to have more solid material before releasing a CD. The project gave its last performance in March 2006.
A few weeks later, Turcotte, Breton and another ex member of Traumatic Landscape ally again to start a new project of melodic death metal. Around the end of the year, the band enters studio with Pascal Letendre to record a demo named “The Initiation”. The band organizes a CD release show showcasing four other bands. The event was a success. Over 200 people were present and about 100 demos were sold. The band did many other gigs during the year and sold another 200 copies of its demo. Obsek gives its final show in October 2007 and then disband.
Meanwhile, Breton and Simon Côté-Massicotte started a screamo project with three friends. Having difficulties to pinpoint a musical objective, the project had troubles and members quitted. Breton then invited Turcotte to join the band, bringing with him his experience and energy. Turcotte’s deeply Metal influences brought a new sound to the project. The band did its first show opening for Catamenia under the name “Liar’s Waltz” and was praised by local critics for their energy and their refreshing new sound. The band decided to take back the name Obsek and did many other shows. The band entered studio during summer 2008 with Yannick St-Amant (Despised Icon, Beneath The Massacre) to record a two track promo. Obsek continued doing shows, always giving highly energetic performances. The band plans on releasing a 9 tracks full length CD at the beginning of 2010.
