With captivating lyrics and infectious melodies, singer/songwriter Nick Daugherty is quickly establishing himself as a pack leader in the ultra-competitive L.A. music scene.
The former military officer-turned-troubadour has spent the last year diligently studying with some of the most respected names in music.
Nick's Journey has led him to veteran music producer Mandi Martin (Amy Kuney, Oleta Adams, Ray Charles, Sam Cooke), who is currently producing Daugherty's first album, set for release in Summer 2008.
Having honed his skills with intensive one-on-one mentoring sessions with songwriting guru and author John Braheny (”The Craft and Business of Songwriting”); and enriched his soulful, smoky vocals training with voice/performance coach Steven Memel (Adam Levine, Taryn Manning), Daugherty is proving his mettle as a
talented and capable writer/artist.
Studying the greats is nothing new for Nick. As a teen, he immured himself in pop, blues, jazz, and rock. He lists influences such as Sting, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, John Mayer, Billy Joel, Dave Matthews, Paul Simon, Kenny Loggins, Hall & Oates, and Derek Webb (Caedmon's Call). Now, with 12 years of guitar experience and 8 years of songwriting, Daugherty is finally ready to mark his turf.
And people are beginning to take notice by the thousands. In July 2006, with no band, no fan base, no production team (in fact nothing but a handful of rough demos), Daugherty made a bold prediction to the world. His project, called “How To Get A Record Deal in 365 Days,” drew more than 120,000 hits to his website, NicksJourney.com.
With an A-list team of mentors, musicians, and music marketers behind him, this 27-year-old talent is poised to set the bar for independent musicians in 2008.
Remember his name — big things are on the horizon for NICK DAUGHERTY.
