Niav is an irish singer/songwriter,musician
and producer currently living in new south wales, Australia.
Known for her unique vocal style and voice,
Niav's songwriting skills along with her musical talents
and popular creative production techniques combine
to offer a smorgasbord of social commentary and passion
in the true bardic style of her ancestry.
A vocal and genre gymnast , Niav is also known for her collaborating
skills having worked with many independent artists from around the world
on various musical projects ,always enriching the song
material by injecting her own unique style and perspective into the mix.
Niav is currently in studio finalizing the recording of her debut album
Woman In A World Gone Mad set to be released in early 2008.
Woman In A World Gone Mad is an alternative indie album
featuring songs from many other genres such as celtic , folk ,
rock and world , which addresses the current socio-political
state of the planet while examining the human psyche
and state of consciousness.
An eclectic mix in both genre and subject matter.
Some of the comparisons listeners and fans have made to Niav's
sound are Kate Bush,Tori Amos,Evanesence and in production
style has even been compared to the likes of David Bowie and
Peter Gabriel.Most of all they say Niav is immediately recognizable
as uniquely herself within her emotive and evocative music.

As Niav says;

" I started out three years ago to aurally paint
every human emotion . Somewhere along the line
that mission developed into one of a socio-political
call to conscience and this is what my coming debut album
Woman In A World Gone Mad is all about.
This wasn't an intentional move but sprang from the frustration of
watching so much WRONG at loose in the world
and everyone seemingly so conditioned to it and so emotionally
removed from it .
Basically I try to reach past conditioning lyrically,
emphasise the point vocally,
and put the listener into the scene via the production.
The results can often be a shock to the system,
in some instances one needs to shock to capture full attention.
I liken much of my music to the "reality" car crash
advertisements you sometimes see on tv for drink driving.....
I try to do the same thing but in a soundscape when I produce."

In 2006 , Niav gained the interest of the australian independent
film maker VeeM Productions with her song
Who Put America In Charge who subsequently filmed her debut
music video which was released in March 2007.
With an internet presence for over three years , Niav has also
had songs featured on various broadcasting websites
and in amateur film productions and developed a strong listening audience.
She has performed at live venues in Sydney and locally
on the south coast of new south wales prior to embedding in studio
to create and produce her debut album.
Niav will be touring in support of her album on it's release.
