Bio

Hailing from Western Australia, Naetu create aggressive dark hymns, with deep brooding sections and haunting accoustics. The black storms are rising and a new era is emerging, the era of STORMING BLACK METAL

About

In early 2002, a concept that focuses on life's dark side and contempt for various organised religions was created by Nefarious (bass/vocals) and Vorkgnar (guitar/live vocals). The duo were seeking to create something furious, abyssic, loathsome and brooding. The result is now known as NAETU.....

For 2 years the band progress was slow, Vorkgnar had involvement with other bands in that time, and Nefarious was wagging war with his own demons. But at the beginning of 2004, momentum and drive was found. With an arsenal of songs recorded minus drums on an old 4 track now completed, the pair sought out to form a complete 4 piece line-up. After showing the rough 'bedroom' recordings of Annihilator, Misanthropic Nightmare, The Burning Lands and Odes to Suicide to various people, it didn't take long to find a guitarist, one by the name of Noxeraph. With further involvement now pushing NAETU even harder, the trio were introduced to a drummer by the name of Nisrach in mid 2004. Not a black metal drummer, but highly proficient none the less, full rehearsals were now finally under way with a full line up. Local anticipation now began to stir when talk of performing live ceremonies began to highten, but at the end of 2004, Nisrach was forced to leave the band for personal reasons.

Undeterred by this turn of events, Nefarious, Vorkgnar and Noxeraph pushed on. More writing took place to now have 7 hymns ready to bludgeon the masses with. Once again, Naetu's drive was ever increasing, and now with a hunger to perform live eating at their souls, the search for a drummer once again commenced! After some time in early/mid 2005, a young drummer was found in the form of Xaphan, a devoted black metal enthusiast indeed! So within the young drummer's dungeon, rehearsals once again commenced with explossive form! In this time, many key elements were set in place, the NAETU logo as it is today was forged from pits of molten iron and sulfer by Noxeraph and Nefarious. The decision to wear corpse paint was made. And a concept from the disturbed mind of Nefarious was hand crafted by him self, the weaponary now known as 'the blades', gauntlet knife edged blades replacing the old 'leather and spikes' look of beloved black metal bands. By early 2006, it was decided, time to release the beast from the shadows, and allow its black wings to spread forth! April 2006 saw their first ceremony which they called 'The First Bloodfall'. A high turn out lay witness to the scathing attack! And silenced the critics who assumed the hype built up over the years would be nothing more than just simple words!

After the debut performance, Naetu once again hide away. Some writing went on, and a few more events were played. In 2007, after a failed attempt to begin formal recordings of a debut album at Depth Studios, Xaphan left the band in the middle of the year for personal reasons. Luckily a temporary replacement was found immediatly in the form of well known local blaster Trevor Owen of death legends Grotesque. The higher calibre of drumming for Naetu's material gave the hymns a new brutality, which further inspired the trio and lead to the composition of the now highly acclaimed instrumental 'avenging the fallen'. With the close of 2007, Naetu once again entered the realm of misfortune, Depth Studios, and this time did not see the light of day again for many months. It wasnt untill feb 2008 when they emerged from the house of carnage, shielding their eyes from the harsh sunlight, and held high in their withered rotting hands their debut 9 track album entitled 'The Burning Lands'. This release of monsterous proportions was released to a packed (some 400 people) Amplifier Bar in april 2008, video footage from this massacre can be seen on YouTube.

Sadly, this saw the end of Trevor Owens commitments to the band, and hence parted ways. Making good use of the down time, new material began to build while the hunt for a new drummer went on. But sadly, yet another set back, for personal reasons, the loathsome Noxeraph chose to leave band. Now back to the original 2, Vorkgnar and Nefarious conitnued the writing process, undetered and more driven than ever before to keep this beast alive! Towards mid 2008, Guland was contacted, and with much eagerness joined the duo on drums. Rehearsals once again commenced, and soon after, a replacement guitarist by the name of Sentient joined the fold. Once again a complete unit, Naetu forced their way forward, now with Nefarious formally promoting the band on an international level, they slowly began to gain international awarness.

But after one show(video footage from this show 'Santas Slay Fest' is on YouTube!), Guland left the band in early 2009. This was bad timing, as the band had their sights set on performing with touring international acts, to coincide with their appearance in the internationally acclaimed Terrorizer's march edition of the fear candy CD. Good friend, and previous session blaster, Trevor Owen, heard of this, and after some discussion with Nefarious, has re-joined the fold as session skin blaster. Now with 2 complete songs, 3 90% complete and many more in the works, NAETU is looking forward. Next event, Naetu's merch launch set for April 11th.
