Morbid North / Press

"Little is known about Morbid North only that they came out of the shadows and began rocking everyones socks off"...

“Like early Black Sabbath with more melody and less murky production. Interestingly, the band never feels compelled to pick up the pace much, preferring a slow groove most of the time, avoiding grinding for clearer melodies. The lead singer Mike Swanzey also takes a relaxed approach and sings so you can hear the lyrics. At times, they'd sound at home in the stoner-metal genre, but there's no sludge to be found here. The 70s metal influence is pretty apparent, with Swanzey sounding a bit like Ozzy at times (“Real World”). They also get a rudimentary Van Halen style funk groove going too (“I'm Cold”, “Scream”). Their sound is a lot different from a lot of metal acts performing today. If you like stoner metal but don't like the drugginess, Morbid North will probably be worth a listen.
