Knewdles and Sos are unusual Korean sisters, to say the least. Despite their marriageable ages, they choose to live and make hip hop together in their brownstone in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn.
Knewdles (Kickin New Elevation When Daily Life Expects Sobs), the taller one, is MC and producer. One word spit and ability is clear. Though far from a battle MC, Knewdles spits aggressive flows with tight breath control and an impressive command over crowds. Her style, full of life and emotion, is simply an extension of her personality. Fueled by a contemplative perspective and unique set of experiences,Knewdles is very much an identity politic hip hop music artist. She shares herself humbly and speaks truthfully about her own life in the hopes that human beings will be that much wiser, kinder, and happier.
Sos (Sis On Strings), is violinist and co-producer. She's the beat, or heartbeat, of the outfit. With her soulful touch, Sos raises the potency of the music by supplying a different kind of emotive complement to Knewdles's vocals. Her style melds Classical with Hip Hop with Jazz, creating music that truly defies a need for boxes. With her nimble fingers and rich, gypsy-like tone, Sos has blessed the music of Jay-Z, Kanye West, Alicia Keys, DJ Green Lantern, Immortal Technique and Hasan Salaam.
Together, Misnomer(S) steadily builds a diverse and devoted fanbase that crosses boundaries of sex, race, age, and class, routinely winning over audiences that at first may be skeptical, indifferent, or just hatin'. Since they formed Misnomer(S) three years ago, the sisters have done countless shows in the tri-state area, made national television and radio appearances, and have just finished recording their self-produced debut album. Misnomer(S) is committed to building, evolving, creating value in their community by social activism through their music, and sharing their new kind of sound with those who are down to get it. The debut Misnomer(S) full-length album, In The Dictionary, will be dropping SOON, and their international commercial campaign for Converse One Star for Target is already officially everywhere.
