Michael Tait Tafoya

Michael's music is in a way a metaphor for his life. Of Spanish, Portugese and Scottish parents, Michael has always been at ease mixing and fusing different  sounds and styles of music.Some drawing on his cultural heritage. Currently Michael's music has been consisting of a very Flamenco-style guitar base while adding in elements of classical, electro-acoustic, with latin and modern fusion beats. Michael also plays all the instruments and does all the programming for this using, primarily, the classical guitar, electric bass, keyboards/synths, occasionally electric guitar and percussion such as the cajon, conga, bongos, and dumbek. Live this is achieved mostly through a loop pedal along with some backing tracks. 

Michael's philosphy about music is to learn different elements of all kinds of music and create something unique that stands alone. "You'll hear and connect with what your musical and listening expierience recognize and then you'll be opened up to the blending of what is being played and understand music for what it is,a language of the soul."

Michael has had some expierience in music for TV and is looking for anyone who is interested in him for soundtrack work for documentaries, independent films or anything of the sort. In 2007,along with friend and fellow musician Tommy Vigil(collectively The Unborn Soul), they produced the soundtrack for the PBS(KNME) documentary: "From Curandero to Chupacabra:The Stories of Rudolfo Anaya" and in November 2009 their music will again be aired on a 30 second spot on KNME.

Michael performs every Friday night at the local Wine Room Vino del Corazon. Every week bringing new music,varying sets and instruments."I'm constantly looking for more venues private or public, performances, showcases, fundraisers, gallery and art openings, weddings or any event where the music would be complementary." He is currently working on his next cds,following up after his premier cd "En Otras Palabras"(2009).
