Bio
Melody with Tyler Forsberg formed January 2009 after performing solo for several years. Tyler, having been in several bands including Blind Iris, and Eggs Blackstone, has an extensive resume and a talent for guitar riffs and tempos. Melody, a singer songwriter since childhood, feels a newly written song like a warm blanket on a cold day with lyrics that can haunt even the most peaceful soul. Together, they are a storm wave of talent and unique sound like the first time you fall in love.
About
Both having several years experience in music and performing, by some divine plan, Tyler Forsberg and Melody were joined little more than two years ago. Tyler, having been a drummer in several bands (such as Blind Iris and Eggs Blackstone), and Melody, having been a singer/songwriter since 16, (performing at coffee shops and church functions) seemed far from a perfect match but have blended smoother than peanut butter and honey.
Melody and Tyler met a few years ago from an open mic performance. Melody's stirring vocals and haunting lyrics brought out the softer side of Tyler and he began playing the guitar and singing with her on her sets. Tyler's natural talent for the guitar was immediately obvious. As Melody and Tyler began performing with their new found union, it was hard to deny the chemistry, and the clarity with Tyler by her side.
Melody's love for songwriting stopped at the guitar riffs and chords. Never having a passion for accompaniment, Melody learned just enough to play the basics and write but never learned proper chord names or terminology, so Tyler began to improve and add to them. Tyler also began writing his own songs, and performing solo.
The duo moved to Salt Lake in October of 2007 and began expanding their dream from a once a month coffee shop performance in Logan, to a few nights a week in Salt Lake with the hopes of building a reputation for being reliable and talented performers without egos. Performing on weeknights at places like Liquid Joes and Burt's Tiki Lounge, they worked up enough buzz to start playing weekends at several bars, clubs, and coffee shops. In the beginning, they booked the same venues but played separately except a few songs that Tyler played with Melody, but as time went on they would find themselves more like wine and cheese... better served together.
In March 2009 Melody released her Freshman Album "Finally", an LP of 5 songs, 7 tracks (2 are live versions) as a solo artist, and Tyler recorded his songs for release as well, which will be included on the next album. They plan to start recording Fall 2009, and adding his tracks, with catchy tunes, unique guitar riffs, and his soft singing romantic vocals.
As if to travel back in time, In May 2008, Tyler and Melody envisioned an idea (which has since been brought to fruition) a purebred acoustic music festival aptly named "The Acoustic All-Stars". After seeing a local acoustic Artist one night with a great talent and very few fans, they wanted to find a proper place for people like them, where it was cool to play acoustic, where you could network with other acoustic musicians, and where you could be or even find a mentor. They began searching for a good venue, and in an almost beam of light, they found The Star Bar in Park City, Utah. The Line up was, Greg Downs, Muhaw, Swudgie, Parleys Drifters, Steven Swift, Matthew Hoffman, Thalia Condo, Jaremy Flygare, Jon Perry, James Shook, Timmy Pearce, Melody, Tyler Forsberg, and touring artist Rachel McGoye from California. Because of the unique nature of the festival, the AAS received a lot of press for its first year. Melody and Tyler were able to perform on Park City TV, had an article in The Park Record, and because of that, Melody was listed as an artist to watch in FlipSide Magazine.
In August 2008, the premier performances of The Acoustic All-Stars Festival was underway. The first year being a success, The Star Bar has accepted Tyler, Melody, and a stellar lineup for a second year. This Years Acoustic All-Stars will be held August 1st, 8:00 pm-12:00 am, and August 2nd 2:00 pm-10:00 pm. for line up and tickets go to http://www.myspace.com/pcacoustic
Melody with Tyler Forsberg has performed at such festivals as the Sugarhouse Arts Festival, Park Silly Sunday Market, Earth Jam, will be performing September 19th at the Utah State Fair.
They are most certainly a duo to watch.
