Bio

Matt Boroff is a singer / songwriter / guitarist originally from Northern New Jersey who relocated to Austria and formed the band Matt Boroff & the Mirrors with drummer Little Konzett and bassist Rolf Kersting. The band has released three albums since 2004 and they tour regularly.

About

When listening to this band your mind's eye finds itself being sucked through a gramophone shaped tunnel and dropped into a realm of cinematic surrealism, spoon bending noise and timeless rock 'n' roll. They sound as if they've taken the brains of Quentin Tarantino, Tom Waits and David Lynch, seasoned them with opium, stuffed them into a meat grinder and baked them in a junkyard on the sun. So step through the fur padded elevator doors and press one of the shiny buttons, you've entered the looking glass world of Matt Boroff and the Mirrors.

To define Matt Boroff by his music alone wouldn't be enough. The release of the third album, "Elevator Ride",   from the East Coast American makes this point undeniably clear. Matt Boroff,  together with his band “The Mirrors” (Austrian drummer Little Konzett and German bassist Rolf Kersting), cut through the static in an era of musical fast food to deliver something that's more than just a piece of music. In other words, they don't just play great songs, they take you on a trip into a universe that they alone have created. Evidence of this lies in the fact that the press often compares them with well known directors such as David Lynch and Quentin Tarantino, rather than with other bands. Since Boroff's talents as a graphic artist are equal to that of his musical abilities, he's been able to use his album artwork and videos to open a gate into a bizarre world of surrealism for which the band provides the perfect soundtrack. "Elevator Ride" opens with Matt Boroff & The Mirrors using their raw, elemental rock sound to conjure up vivid scenes of an American desert. The twelve songs that the album churns out are surprising in both their level of diversity and uniformity. Whether a steamroller track like "Zombie Machine" or a ballad like "Ways" comes rattling out of your speakers, the trio is always in command as they shape-shift from song to song . They're able to generate a musical energy that's rarely heard these days - a fact that stands as a testament to the well known live qualities of the trio.

Matt Boroff and The Mirrors are regularly moving between continents where they've been heard on stages around the world. With the new songs from "Elevator Ride" on the set-list the experience will most definitely be enhanced.
