It's been a few years since Mark Beets was pounding the pavement in Houston, Texas performing in such clubs as Rockefellers, Corkys, Theodores, and Fitzgeralds. He decided to take some time off (twenty years!) to help raise a family. In 2003 Beets decided to jump back in with both feet. His debut release entitled "Long Ago And Many Days" is essentially the culmination of those twenty years. The CD is full of gritty life ballads matched with wonderous melodies. It was recorded at White Cat Studio in Houston, Texas and co-produced by Jack Saunders with guest appearances by Rick Richards and Wayne Wilkerson. Saunders pulls out almost every guitar in his arsenal to create a lush, full sound that some have called "Organic Americana". That same year Beets was a finalist in the Wildflower Festival songwriting competition. In 2004, Mark's song "Hole In My Heart" was selected to be included on My Texas Music's Radio Ready Vol. 1 compilation CD. In 2005, Mark's song "The Road's Not Long Enough" was selected as the lead single on The Houston Association of Acoustic Musicians compilation CD.
Beets has also dabbled in co-writing, penning songs with Connie Mims (That's The Way My Love Is), Jack Saunders (Living For The Sunshine), and Larry Moon (Son Of A Common Man).

Today, Mark continues to perform at venues in and around Houston. A new seven song EP is scheduled for release the first week of November 2009.
