About
Maddison Avenue is a country rock'n roll musical experience based out of Halifax, Nova Scotia. Lead by singer/songwriter, Keith Maddison, the band got their first break at JunoFest 2006 with a featured showcase. Their sound, which earned them an opening gig for East Coast rock legends, April Wine, has been compared to Bob Seger, Van Morrison, the Rolling Stones, and even the Black Crowes.
All five members have backgrounds in performance that are second to none on the East Coast scene. The heart of a rambler fuels Keith Madison’s song writing. The navy took his family from coast to coast as he grew up but Keith was always able to find a home in his music. While his sense of responsibility carried him to Bishops University to complete a commerce degree, it wasn’t long before music became the main direction of Keith’s life. Further study in Dalhousie University’s music department brought Maddison to Halifax and the chemistry of a group of best friends would be the catalysts for what would become Maddison Avenue.
Aaron MacDonald (lead guitar, vocals) knows his way around the guitar; after all it’s in his blood. MacDonald’s grandfather, Rudy Pace, has his place in Nova Scotian music history as one of the best jazz musicians the Province has ever produced. There is a music scholarship in his name St. FX University to prove it.
The debut EP from Maddison Avenue is rock’n roll that reaches back to its roots. The rich harmonies, soulful melodies, musicianship, and arrangements contained within it are more like what you’d expect to find on an album from veteran musicians on a major label.
