About

Sometimes we get flack about our name, but we are talented and professional.  We have never had a bad review and are asked to return wherever we go.  With other bands out there with name such as the "Sex Pistols" and "Velvet Revolver" to name a few then your hypocritcal critisisms are unwanted.  Those names rock, our name rocks, and we rock!

BIO

Liquor Boxx is a 4 piece whose music is a merging of classic, blues, and alternative rock, encapsulated in their debut LP, “To the Face, 10 Songs of Greatness”.  Based out of Chicago and proud members of NACA, Liquor Boxx set off on a massive, 16-month “Inner Peace” tour.  Since then, they have played shows from coast-to-coast, from N.Y. to L.A, in over 175 venues.
Onstage, frontman Kevin Mace possesses a Jim Morrison-like persona that underscores the driving passion behind Liquor Boxx's songs.  Lead guitarist Patrick Creedon's over-the-head/behind-the-back guitar acrobatics performed while blasting through a rock riff or a blues meltdown make his live performances an unforgettable experience.  Drummer Johnny "Drama" Stoneking has rightly been compared to John Bonham (Led Zeppelin).  His nightly solos and explosive power of his drumming can turn an entire room his way.  Bassist Martin "Farelli" Farrelly completes the onstage profile with playing that throws you to your feet, makin’ your knees weak.

After creating a buzz, Refugee Entertainment, LLC, along with several other independent labels, has expressed an interest in signing Liquor Boxx, and the group is in the process of signing a recording contract.  With all that is happening, Liquor Boxx continues to do the most important part of it all… focus on the music and survive off their dreams.

QUOTES:
"I have the utmost respect for these guys, they knew they had something good and they knew what they wanted to do, they just didn't know how. So these four crazy rockers just got in a van and went for it. They didn't know where they were going to eat, sleep, and sometimes even play. Bands don't do this anymore, the music business has changed. To have the balls to do what they are doing and succeed is a testament to all of us with dreams everywhere"
- Bob Everland - Booking agent and founder of the “Endless Summer Jam Festival”

"I have been booking at the Cheyenne Saloon in Las Vegas for the past three years.  We have had some major acts come through.  By far Liquor Boxx is the best yet.”

Outstanding Band, Reminiscent of the Doors, Zeppelin, And Black Crowes [- Hide]
Guestlistmagazine.com
Chicago's Liquor Boxx has certainly carved out their name amongst the alternative rock scene through countless tour dates, a unique style that lends as much alternative flare as it does classic rock, and have even been dubbed as "sexy Chicago Rock." With their latest effort "To The Face," they seem to be on a mission to show the world just what it is they can do all around musically and just when you think you have them figured out, they hit you with the unexpected. Though for my liking the songs tend to get a little long at times, with some of them topping off at over 6 minutes, there isn't any denying the fact that this band features incredible musicianship and outstanding vocals that seem to channel the late, legendary Doors singer Jim Morrison more often than not. If you like your alternative music rocking they display that style on tracks like the guitar driven "Cheap Sex N Vodka" they drop a groovy bass line that will have your head bopping right along with them on "Evil Girl," a driving guitar riff and vocal reminiscent of the 60's rockers like the Doors or later Rolling Stones on "Rock Your Soul, and seem to bring out a bit of a Black Crowes influence with "Tomorrow." As I stated earlier they seem to be on a mission to show you exactly what they bring to the table, with no two songs really following the same trend other than the fact that they can be classified as good, solid rock songs with a wide variety of influences coming together to form a unique sound.

Oh, my. I needed a good night out. And luckily I was able to convince my good friend Mike that he needed a night out, too, after a day hard-spent watching season one of "Weeds." Since this was the weekend of the annual Atlantis Music Conference, I thought we could just pick a venue and hang out for five or six hours listening to some (hopefully) good music.

Smith's Olde Bar. Always a good choice, especially last night. First, let me throw a shout out to Chicago band Liquor Boxx for being the last band on and with the smallest audience and somehow still managing to rock the holy fucking hell out of the joint. Easily the best band of the night. Too bad they went on last - a lot of milquetoasts were tired by then, freakin' 2 am, grow a pair, already! - because they missed some funky, bluesy rock-n-fuckin-roll. The real stuff. What your parents always warned you about. Liquor Boxx, my friends, is the shit that gets you chased by the cops just before dawn and no one is really even sure why. You just know you've never had a better time in your entire life.

Might I also add that during the show the singer scouted the audience for a lady to help the guitar player take the reigns for a few. I offered my hand. He jumped off the stage and like a gentleman he took my hand and led me up the steps to face the crowd. The guitarist lifted his arms and I stood in front of him as he lowered his arms and his guitar in front of me. As the singer told me, "Just stand there, baby, and hold on." Hold on I did as the guitarist went on to have a mini-shred fest that totally did not require such close proximity, but it was fun anyway. The whole time I could think of nothing but, "You're wearing stillettos. Steady yourself. This is not the time to fall. DO NOT FALL IN FRONT OF THESE PEOPLE." Ha. I didn't. Thank God I wasn't drinking, right?

Please check out Liquor Boxx. Keep track of their tour schedule. See them whenever you can. And go to their MySpace site and throw them some love!

Liquor Boxx brought the house down [- Hide]

Sweeney's had a refreshing, kind of laid-back atmosphere.  Despite the fact that it been here for years, it really gets overshadowed by flashier bars, so it like a best kept secret of Philly for those in-the-know.  Pretentiousness?  Nah.  Bad customer service?  Not while I've ever been there.  I don't go all the time but when I need a reminder of what decent people are like, I go to Sweeney's.  The low-key atmosphere and clientele make
it a perfect place to live music and the times I've been there when a band was, the band also fit this comfortable environment.  The first time I went there wasn't a band, and the next couple times were locals, but this last time I was really something special-a band who I think said were from Chicago called Liquor Boxx who brought the house down and I think got every girl's attention in the room, especially when the guitarist lifted a girl on his shoulders while he kept playing!  Their soulful rock vibed really well with Sweeney's and made for an incredibly fun combination. I was Prepared to hate them [- Hide]
Guest Blogger, http://bandweblogs.com/guestbloggers/
I was prepared to hate them. I was dragged to Liquor Boxxs show at Rock City, in Mentor, OH, by a friend who had been given a flier by one of the band members the night before, proclaimed that he was really cute and that we had to go. Now, this is normally the sign of a long night that can only be made better by some kind of freakish power outage, but thankfully, this was not the case here. Around 10:30, a group from Chicago called Liquor Boxx took to the stage, which I had been noticing before theyd even gone up because it looked, well professional.. Though appearing to be effortlessly cool, someone in the band had obviously put a lot of thought into the look of it, with scarves on the mic stand, and a tiger-print looking drum kit and matching guitars, though it didnt give the impression they were trying too hard.  They announced that they were on the East coast leg of their tour, dubbed Inner Peace, and started with a catchy up-tempo number. With the opening notes, their Hendrix and
Zeppelin influences were plain to see, though they were coupled with the bands own dramatic flair. It soon became clear that Kevin Mace the singer, is quite the frontman and before the night was over he literally had people moving on the dance floor and several women who actually invited themselves onstage. During their set, Patrick Creedon, the guitarist actually played guitar around a girl and then hoisted her on his shoulder-all the while doing a wicked guitar solo. The bassist, Marty Farrelly, was very solid and had a great quiet presence and Johnny Stoneking, their drummer, played a five minute solo that ended with him playing with glow-in-the-dark sticks and then just his hands!  Liquor Boxx offered a live show that had something that I havent seen in a long time- substance. Not only do they actually play their instruments, but they play them
exceptionally well, not only are they charismatic but they make you feel personally involved in, and responsible for, their rising stature on the indie scene; youre rooting for these guys to succeed because they work so hard, put on a great show, entertain the crowd and they have that intangible something special. Already signed to Refugee
Entertainment, LLC, a smart move by the indie record label, Liquor Boxxs live show offers guitar contortionism, musical virtuosity, charisma, and passionate, bluesy alternative rock at its best.

Damn Good! [- Hide]

Yesterday I was contacted by a promoter representing the Chicago band Liquor Boxx who asked if I would consider featuring the band on
confoozled.com. After listening to a few tracks I was more than happy to oblige. They describe their music as a merging of classic and alternative rock. The important thing is that they're pretty damn good. If you happen to live in this area, Liquor Boxx' east coast tour is making a stop this Friday at KC's Tap in Pawtucket, RI. Showtime is 11pm.

The music found on To the Face is amazing  [- Hide]
NY Magazine - Melissa Minners
The music found on To the Face is amazing – this album represents a rock and roll experience that has long been missing from mainstream radio.  In fact, it would seem that the focus of this album is to showcase Liquor Boxx's musical talents.  Vocals are secondary on this album, but really, who cares with such incredible guitar riffs and rocking beats.  The press information supplied for the band states that Liquor Boxx is suitable for fans of Jet.., Buckcherry.., Black Crowes.., Jimi Hendrix.., Led Zepplin.. and Stevie Ray Vaughan...  I would go as far to say that any fan of the classic rock era would be extremely happy to own a copy of To the Face.

Getting back to the limited vocals found on this album  - the vocals supplied by Kevin Mace on To the Face actually add to the classic rock feel.  Think The Doors'.. Jim Morrison.. meets Jimi Hendrix meets the Black Crowes.  Kevin Mace's vocals are right on par with the classic rock meets alternative rock venue of the band.

Patrick Creedon really steals the show in To the Face with his incredible guitar solos.  My favorite track on the album – Tomorrow – features Creedon prominently in a solo that is reminiscent of Pearl Jam's.. sound.  The guitar solo is what attracted me to the song.  The first couple of seconds, I was simply glued to the CD player wondering where he was going to go with it.

To the Face is a fun journey between retro and today's rock.  I can definitely see a future for this band and hope they get some play time on mainstream radio.  Word has it that they have been on a lengthy tour, traveling from coast to coast, playing over 220 shows in over 175 venues.  That ought to get the word out about their music.

But if you really want to know what Liquor Boxx is all about, you simply have to hear them for yourselves.  Check out Liquor Boxx's debut album To the Face at Amazon.com, iTunes, CD Baby, Rhapsody or Napster.  The promo material I received for Liquor Boxx says that their "go to" tracks are Ask Me to Stop.., Cheap Sex N Vodka.. and Samantha Fox.  Although I liked Samantha Fox, I think you get a better handle of the band from the tracks Tomorrow and Up N Down Me.  Trust me, this is not a one hit wonder kind of band.  I expect to hear music from Liquor Boxx played in mainstream venues in no time.
