  YOUTH DAY is not just one day but rather a year round initiative; youth participants partake in events leading up to the festival in July including auditions, press conferences, meetings, fundraising events, promotional video shoots, media interview sessions, etc. The program allows our youth to develop skills, obtain new knowledge, stay busy and active, connect and network with both peers and mentors that can help them progress in various ways. We have been commended by the city; deemed an event of municipal significance – YD2012 Highlights 1. Expecting over 30,000 attendees! 2. Deemed an Event of Municipal Significance by the City of Toronto, April 2012 3. Over 100 performances including live music, dance, and speakers. Includes the work of over 350+ youth 14 – 24. 4. Headliner & Feature Performances! A number of recording artists support Toronto’s youth and endorse YD with the contribution of their time – Check back for schedule details! 5. Special guest hosts! Including a number of industry personalities/celebrities – including SYTYCDC Judge, Tre Armstrong and Recording Artist, Liona Boyd. 6. Youth Gallery Expansion! High demand has grown the gallery both in size and in diversity to now include 2D, 3D, audience interactive and live art and photography. Featuring a variety of styles of youth and mentor artist work. Sponsored by The Al Green Gallery and Curator, Lindy Green. 7. Yonge St Closure! Over 40 vendors, of a variety of types, will be lined on Yonge St to accommodate the festival attendees. 8. New – Kids Corner on Yonge St! Activities for kids under 12 including a colouring area, face painting, and an inflatable jumping castle! 9. New – Live Fashion Show! Featuring youth and mentor designers showcasing a variety of styles for all ages, sizes, and backgrounds! 10. YD Special Edition T-Shirts! Available at YD2012 – support the initiative and purchase a t-shirt! 11. YD Event Series! Come out to a number of pre-show fundraising benefits including Shows, a Casual Pool Hall Night, and Press Conferences.
