Bio
Leslie Sanazaro Santi is a pianist, a singer and a songwriter. Some of her biggest influences are Carole King, Joni Mitchell and Rickie Lee Jones.
She has a background in jazz, but it seems to take a backseat to her folky-pop style. Mostly easy going and lyrical, she still throws in an angular, bluesy tune from time to time, where you can hear a little more of a jazz influence.
Leslie Sanazaro Santi plays regularly in St. Louis, tours the US and Canada and began playing shows in Asia in 2008, the same year as her new EP release 'On Your Roof'. This new cd was produced by David Browning in Nashville and has a pinch of Nashville in it's polished sound but still seems to maintain an indie edge. Both of her albums can be purchased through CdBaby or at iTunes. Come check out a live show soon!
About
Welcome!
I'm a singer/songwriter/pianist and touring, recording musician. I believe in live music. I believe people want to hear something better than what they're used to. I believe in sweet catchy melodies. I believe in art. I believe people are inherently good. I believe I'd like to meet you.
The new EP 'On Your Roof' is out and available now at live shows, or at CdBaby. You can also get there through MySpace, and it is continually becoming more available for digital download through iTunes, Rhapsody, Amazon, SnoCap and others.
I spent the first half of 2008 playing shows in Asia. From February through May I played solo shows six nights a week in Seoul, South Korea on a beautiful grand piano. It really solidified a lot of my ideas about song forms, art, influences and entertainment.
When I returned home I went straight into the studio to finish the new EP On Your Roof, recorded with the amazing David Browning in Nashville, which came out stellar! The St. Louis Post-Dispatch did a feature write up on the release in their Fall Arts Preview of things to see in St. Louis, and the cd release was September 27, 2008. It was a very intimate show here at home at a new venue called The Chapel. It was an amazing night of music with the full five piece band. I'm slowly posting footage here, at YouTube and at my NEW WEBSITE! Did I mention I have a NEW WEBSITE?
My first record Stars in the Attic was released in 2006 and has gotten a great response. It currently gets radio airplay in the U.S., Canada and in Europe, and a number of other internet based radio programs. You can hear some of the record here, and in it's entirety for download at iTunes, CdBaby, Rhapsody and a number of other spots online.
My influences include Nancy Wilson, Chet Baker, Aimee Mann, Joni Mitchell, Rickie Lee Jones, Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, Regina Spektor, Rufus Wainwright, Bjork, Portishead, Dee-Lite, Paul Simon, Sting, Peter Gabriel, Ray Charles, The Beatles, The Eagles, Southern Rock, 70's Rock, Cool Jazz from the 50's, classical composer Gustav Mahler, Leon Redbone, St. Louis Blues, Philadelphia singer/songwriters and too many more to list.
I'm really excited to kick off 2009! I'll begin working this year with new and interesting people helping to book new shows and to get my music into new markets. Also as a big thank you to everyone who's been attending shows all year in '08, I've scheduled all FREE shows for the months of January and February (excluding one...) in and around St. Louis! Please check the schedule or my website for detailed information on each show! Solo, full band, public, private-- lots of different kinds of shows in '09!
Please keep checking in with me, I am newly dedicated to keeping all my sites now updated with the up and coming events and happenings in my music, and there are plenty ahead!
Thanks for your support and I look forward to bringing the best music I can make with you.
