A new Open Mic night is starting up in Twickenham; at the Ailsa Tavern, St. Margarets Rd. The Open Mic nights will be a regular monthly feature at the Ailsa Tavern - on the last Sunday of every month, the special opening night being Sunday, July 31st from 7.30pm. These Open Mics are being hosted by local singer / song-writer and “Kindred Spirit” band leader, Elaine Samuels, who has performed on TV, the Cavern Club, Glastonbury and Guildford Festivals – to name a few. Elaine can offer some great potential for up and coming acts looking to progress (with video, photo and gig opportunities). The Open Mics will also be a lot of fun and the chance to jam with others, meet other musically minded locals and make new friends. We will be having occasional song-writing competitions with a cash prize!
Elaine Samuels (vocals / guitar), who has been featured on TV and radio as well as at festivals such as Glastonbury and Guildford, will be performing a Kindred Spirit duo set with the wonderful Phil Martin (electric guitar, violin and violia), who is a melodic improviser and also has a great voice. The Kindred Spirit duo perform a powerful live set of classic pop / rock and contemporary folk covers plus one or two perceptive and intriguing originals. Expect haunting and beautiful vocals, expert guitar playing and soaring electric violin. The fab Leigh Moth is supporting tonight
