Shaquenia "Lady Queen" Nelson has been singing since the age of 2. Like most vocalists, Queen got her start in church, where she sang in the choir, and later became the music director. In 1999, Queen signed with K-LEW Ent, an indie record label, and recorded 2 R&B albums.

For 2 years, Lady Queen performed throughout the Midwest and won countless contests, including the 2000 Jenny Jones Battle of the Bands.
