Bio
Born just hours apart in the same Indianapolis hospital, Ryan Brown and Kris Potts seemed destined to create music together. The two met in the summer of 1988 and quickly became friends. Soon they would discover their musical talents in their respective instruments. Brown took up the guitar and Potts on electric bass. The two jammed together and started creating the foundation of what would eventually become Ladymoon.
Rehearsing and performing with several different drummers Brown finally met Mark McKowen at Ball State University sometime in 2000. McKowen was a great match to Brown and Potts given his diverse musical capabilities. The three created several new songs and recorded a full length LP in 2001.
The band was on its way to becoming one of the most creative and influential groups to come out of the Midwest jam band scene. They performed at many venues throughout the region sharing their eclectic sound and crazy on stage performances. Yet as in all great tragedies the members of Ladymoon parted ways in 2003. The band members became involved in other projects (Brown & McKowen formed Austin Bridges, while Potts turned in the bass for a mandolin in Midwest Rhythm Exchange) and expanded their individual musical repertoires. However the desire to play together was too strong and they eventually reunited in 2007.
They have recently received Runner-Up in the Relix Magazine Jam-Off November edition. Their range expanded while taking time off and they drew new musical inspiration from their individual side projects. While they have recorded a 5 song demo since reuniting their song selection is enormous with original songs ranging from ska and reggae to progressive rock and jamband. They are recording a new full length disc to be released in Spring 2009. Not to mention covers which include a wide array or artists including Talking Heads, Traffic & Deep Purple as well as Phish & The Grateful Dead.
