Ask Kim Jarrett anything...
Q: Did you study music formally?
A: Hi - thanks for the question! As a child and teenager, I did study classical piano (Royal Conservatory) up to Grade V, and a few years of vocal lessons from two opera singers, in choir and solo formats, as well as a few years of some jazz vocal classes involving harmony. As an adult, I had some informal guitar instruction from some musically adept friends, and later, a songwriting/performance mentorship under a professional musician and award-winning songwriter for a number of years. Currently, I study things more informally, and have been learning more about all of these instruments, and drumming, from watching and asking tips of pros, and applying techniques as I go. I've been privileged to be surrounded by talented and helpful folks my entire career. You can always learn more about music - and it's always a joy to continue to grow and expand my knowledge, and application of it. Thanks for the question!
