The 2 time SAMMY Award winning Kevin Dorsey Collective is a unique performing ensemble combining jazz and pop harmonies with world music. Performing mostly original material, the Collective is carving it’s niche in the musical landscape across New York State, and their recordings can be heard on radio stations worldwide.


KEVIN DORSEY (double-bass, electric bass guitar) is an in demand bassist and tuba player in the Central New York Region. He holds a Masters of Music in Studio Jazz Writing from the University of Miami and a Bachelors of Music in Music Education with a Performers Certificate from SUNY Potsdam and has studied jazz composition with Gary Lindsay, Ron Miller and Bret Zvacek.


Dorsey has written over 100 compositions for everything from duos to symphony orchestra in many different genres. In the last few years he has had the opportunity to perform with such diverse artists as modern jazz musicians Phil Woods, Miguel Zenon, Dave Samuels and Steve Slagle, avant garde musicians Steve Swell, Hamid Drake, Jalil Moondrake and William Parker, opera singer N'Kenge Simpson-Hoffman and the Israeli ensemble Simply Tsfat.


Kevin teaches General Music K-5, and the Guitar Ensemble at the Seymour Dual Language Academy in Syracuse, NY and an adjunct faculty member at LeMoyne College and Cayuga Community College. He is a voting member of The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (the Grammys) and currently the Treasurer for the NYS Chapter of IAJE. Kevin’s current project, the SAMMY Award winning Kevin Dorsey Collective, is a group performing all original music combining jazz harmony with world music and other genres.


BILL POMARES (woodwinds) received a Master of Music in Saxophone Performance at the University of Northern Colorado and a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam. He can be heard as a featured soloist on the UNC CD releases, "My Favorite Things" and "Paper Spoons". Bill has appeared with jazz artists such as Frank Sinatra Jr., Maureen McGovern, Robin Eubanks, and the Manhattan Transfer. He currently performs and records with the Kevin Dorsey Collective. Bill teaches band at Mt. Markham Middle School in West Winfield, NY.


GREG McCREA (trombone, harmonica, acoustic guitar) is a graduate of the Crane School of Music and the University of North Texas where he was a member of the renowned One O'clock Lab Band. His recording and performance credits include the Central New York Jazz Orchestra, the Dallas Jazz Orchestra, the Lew Anderson Big Band, and the Tony Corbiscello Big Band as well as numerous commercial ensembles in the New York area. He has performed on the stages of Birdland, Towne Hall, the Rainbow Room and Carnegie Hall. Greg's teachers on trombone and jazz composition have included Bret Zvacek, Mark Hartman, Royce Lumpkin, Vern Kagarice, Bobby Burgess, Paris Rutherford and Sam Burtis as well as Manny Album and Jim McNeely as a student of the BMI Jazz Composer's Workshop.


JERRY BOWER (percussion) started his musical career as a bassist/guitarist playing styles ranging from rock, blues to swing. Fifteen years ago Jerry started playing hand percussion, focusing on conga and udu drums in the afro-caribbean styles. He has studied with such artists as Brian Melick, Bobby Sanabria, Changuito, Giovanni Hidalgo and Richie Gajate-Garcia at KOSA International.


DAVE DeSIRO (vibraphone, marimba, percussion) began studying percussion at the age of 10.  He has been performing professionally for twenty years. Mr. DeSiro earned a bachelor degree in music education from the Crane School of Music, and a Master degree in Music Performance from Syracuse University. As a performer he has worked with such groups as Crazy Diamond, Homel-Alaniz Band, Mark Doyle's Guitar Noir, Donna Colton, Grupo Pagan, Red Light District, The Envoy, and Sinker. In addition to performing with the Kevin Dorsey Collective, Dave performs with the contemporary jazz group ESP.
