Katy Gunn / Press

“Striking songs with violin, piano, breakbeats through her laptop and attractive, jazz-like vocals...' 'She is charming, spontaneous and confident, and the audience was very receptive and eager..'”

“Katy Gunn's self-titled EP is a charming mix of Feist-y pop, Amy Winehouse's sass, and Fiona Apple's moody melodic sensibility. Upright bass mixes with trip hop drum beats and Gunn's deftly layered vocal harmonies on the wonderfully sparse "Consequences", while tasteful drum machines and string hits accentuate the Regina Spektor-ish pop of "Out of Touch," while she sings of being unimpressed by certain types of people she meets. On "Inside Me", sparkly keyboards give way to a double-time bass drum dancefloor track. Harpsichord, handclaps and vibraphone fill "All the People," while she sings of her questions about God with delightful harmonies that call to mind Pet Sounds-era Beach Boys. It's pretty, exquisite pop that's a pure pleasure to listen to. Give it a listen and you'll agree.”
