About
“The Show Must Go On!, Karen thought at the 2009 Merritt Mountain Music Festival when the clouds released the water they had been carrying, refreshing some 15,000 festival goers. Hon. Stockwell Day and Merritt B.C. Mayor Susan Roline had just accepted a ride from the singer on the way to the stage and offered cheerful support through the deluge. Rain dripping from her guitar, Karen captured the attention of the crowd by singing an excerpt from the opera “Das Neugeborne Kindelein” and then wowed the captive audience with her Alt. Country/Rock set of original music. Performing and recording music professionally for over a decade had brought Karen to this moment and great opportunities like these continue to unfold. Karen’s signature clear voice and socially relevant music make her stand out from the rest. Having released her debut CD Pushing the Edge in 2008, the independent artist continues to garner new fans through a steady climb in CD sales . Tracks from her CD have been added to two compilation CDs: Music BC’s “Make A Case Against Racism”’ and the 2008 Vancouver Artist’s Collective Association (VACA) CD. Karen was given the honour of an accolade by B.C.'s Attorney General and her songs represented BC in the 2008 Trade Mission to Japan. Her music then obtained national exposure through a joint marketing effort with Hevy D Popcorn. In 2009, Karen’s focus has been on live performance, songwriting and creating music videos. Performing numerous local shows, she also headlined the Copper and Fire Festival (B.C) and played her songs in the above mentioned Merritt Festival. In addition, Karen recently released a music video for her song, “Tell Me” which tells the story of the bullied child (view at karenfowlie.com). With the anticipation of the 2010 Olympics, Karen has been chosen by the Lions Bay community to record their official song in support of the games. She will perform the song, “Living Out Loud” live during the 2010 Olympic Torch Relay (televised). In addition, one of Karen’s songs has been selected by an acrobatic troupe as the background music for their Olympic show. More excitement lies ahead! Karen is preparing to record her new album “Route 99” and is looking forward to time on the road during her Summer 2010 tour. “Smokin’ Voice” - North Shore Outlook “You’ve got to hear this girl’s voice!” - CFUV Radio Victoria
