Bio
As a bassist, songwriter and arranger, Johnee truly lives for the music. He has spent over 25 years developing his trademark style while recording and touring with national original acts 1000 Pleasures (a 1994 MN Music Academy Rock Album of the Year nominee), Rainmaker and Sugarslide. Having spent many weeks on the CMJ (College Music Journal) national radio charts (including impressive worldwide independent album sales and a string of Top 10 internet MP3 downloads) qualifies him as no stranger to the music industry. Johnee spent his younger years cutting his "musical teeth" playing live shows around his hometown of Minneapolis, MN as well as at world famous clubs on the Sunset Strip such as the Whiskey-a-go-go and the Roxy Music Theater while living out his dreams in Hollywood, CA. Influenced By classic melodic progressive rock acts like Journey, Led Zeppelin, Yes and Rush and yet an avid follower in the turning of the musical tides of modern music have helped Johnee develop and deliver the means to give the perfect shape and color to his unique style of writing and live performance.
About
1988-2008! 20 Years of Johnee's Music. What A Ride!
The songs u hear are all demos and/or final product recorded in various forms over the last 20 years with different players/bands/studios, etc. All songs were written by lil ol' Johnee D'Shea. I'll note if there are any other writing partners involved.
I'll do my best to include footnotes in the "Lyrics" section of the music player for each song I post so it'll give u a little background and history on the music u hear. Just click the "lyrics" tab and a window will pop up and give u a breif history.
Sad part is, there is, floating around this world somewhere, demos I had as early as 1983, but I doubt if those will ever surface. It was just myself and a drummer in out first 'band' called AXUS.
Kinda sound like anus, but it's not!
We were a tough little band who played in a hay loft of the drummer, Tony Zamatallo's Dad's horse barn in Andover, MN, We had a cool album cover that I drew over the period of 6 Jr. High classes and a couple of songs, but the stuff is nowhere to be found.
I also wrote a song with my cousin (and person who introduced me to the person and musician I am today), guitarist Peter Crosby, called 'Midnight City' that was actually bought by another local rival band for $20.00 about the same time frame as AXUS was trying to find a guitarist and singer. Pure cheesey 80's stuff inspired by Motley Crue and huge amounts of caffene...but I made enuff to by another Judas Priest record and a bottle of New Coke!.
I'll be doing a complete history on myself in the coming months. Keep checking back for more...
Any questions? Feel free to ask away! =)
Enjoy!!

Johnee D'Shea
