Joey is the 1st son of Joseph and Carmen Leal born July, 1971 in the small town of Waukesha, Wisconsin.  He grew up around music all his life and eventually clinged onto the guitar at the age of 10.  Back then it was The Beatles, CCR, The Eagles.
  Nowadays it's  Bob Dylan, Mark Kozelek, Los Lobos,  Peter Mulvey (my hometown hero) any traditional Irish music, piano music, RUSH(for my percussive side) James Taylor, Martin Sexton, Ella Fitzgerald, Nil Lara, BoDeans, Seth Horan,  Tom Waits, Willy Porter, Patty Larkin, Michael Hedges, The Artist formerly known as Cat Stevens, Nick Drake, Fred Neil, Ani DiFranco, Neil Finn..
  Joey's music is a mix of fingerstyle guitar pieces, and experimental new folk rock grooves using open tuning on his 6 string Martin J15. Joey also uses on occasion a Washburn high strung guitar and a Fender baritone electric to compliment different pieces.
 Joey currently plays local coffeshops and clubs.  He is currently working on his 6th independent release.  His debut 1998 "Riverwalk" has won him critical acclaim in the local artist community.
