Jawbone and Jolene have been a blues/roots acoustic duo for over 3 years now. Covering a lot of the Founders and Innovators of blues from Memphis Minnie and Robert Johnson up to and including self-authored and arranged original material, they can be found busking at the local farmers' market, maybe opening a benefit for a friend, hitting a local jam, and recently taking the stage at a cafe in Clarksdale, Mississippi.

“Listening to the new album from Jawbone and Jolene is no nonchalant event. It’s a dance of rhythm and blues set to the wail of a harmonica. In their new album they give their fans a nice and easy reminder of the kind of blues they might have heard back at the juke joint..Jawbone performs the song “Down and Dirty.” It’s a strong album opener. The kind of song that would have fit perfectly in a TV show like “In the Heat of the Night.” And this album is being featured in a short film made for the Little Rock Film Festival 48 Hour Film Project which will debut August 27.While Jawbone opens the album, Jolene introduces herself in songs like Movin’ Man, Be Your Thrill, and Rock Me Daddy..One can almost feel that anticipation in her step to microphone as she sings about the love of her man in songs like “Honey Baby.” Overall, it features what just might be some of the best harmonica blends heard from a local blues artist in a long time. This is a talented duo.”

Back to the central idea here. A bit over a year ago we took a drive over to Clarksdale Mississippi, which is sort of Delta Blues Central. We'd played a joint there a couple of times which has now closed up, sadly. It was in the old train station, and there was so much mojo in that place, I can only imagine how many feet trod that floor going to...
