"...The 2010 release "UPON THESE ASHES" from Irreverence is 10 songs of pure uncontaminated thrash with a side of death and is pretty damn good in my book. Ultra fast tempos, heavy grooves, hellfire vocals, dark evil moods, a strong aggressive rhythm section and songs that stick to your soul. So if you like old school thrash, old school death metal, post-thrash groove metal, modern extreme metal and even black metal then you no doubt will want to pick up a copy of this muther fucker because it's all that and then some. "Non solo la musica mostra un'invidiabile compattezza (e pure altrettanta ferocia) ma gli Irreverence si ripresentano al nuovo appuntamento discografico con una lineup coesa ed ormai invariata da anni. Ed a proposito di formazioni, tra quelle "made in Germany" che hanno lasciato un segno sul sound degli Irreverence, non possono certo mancare i Sodom (peraltro la cover di "Agent Orange" era presente sul loro album d'esordio "Totally Negative Thoughts"), ed è proprio il loro leader storico Tom Angelripper a prendere parte a "Echoes of War". Un ottimo brano, ma certo non l'unico: gli altri, su tutti l'opener "Not One of Them", "The Shepherd Dog" (riecco i vecchi Kreator!), "The Truth Mask" o "Vengeance", reggono tranquillamente il confronto, grazie ad un passo da rullo compressore lanciato a folle velocità, e al gran lavoro profuso da Luca Colombo e Ricky Paioro (anche cantante e sopratutto fondatore della band) alle chitarre.."

"...pace ranges from fast rhythm to midtempo. Vocals are class, only thy should be more varied, although from time to time emphasized by echo effects. The opener Not One Of Them is already formed with very cruel percussive riffs, in which the typical Thrash pace is hold fast and contrasts with break down-hook lines but this construction can be heard in Nothing On My Mind . Chugging but brutal sound for the fast riffs of the second track The Sheperd Dog which also contains anyway slower break down moments. Hands Of Hate is a beast where the usual fierce accelerating feeling is broken by a more percussive and hammering thrashy pace and an unpredictable melodic bridge. Extreme aggression in the mosh monster The Truth Mask sustained by sparkling drumming and diversified guitar works. Echoes Of War featuring Tom Angelripper is the best song with much of early Metallica in the solid rhythmic. But also Repentance Of God is very interesting, an authentic blizzard of hate..."

Fortunatamente non sto scherzando, ecco forse perché sull'ottima "Echoes of War" troviamo anche lo zio Tom Angelripper che ci regala qualcuna delle sue inconfonbili sfuriate. 100% thrash, 100% made in Italy, chi dice che il buon thrash è solo all'estero? Dimenticavo, la produzione è davvero eccellente..."

"Woher auf “Upon These Ashes” der Wind weht oder auch der Sturm bläst, dürfte nach dem ersten Akkord fest stehen. IRREVERENCE stehen auf spröden und kultigen so wie langlebigen Ruhrpott – Thrash der Marke SODOM, KREATOR dazu etwas HOLY MOSES und ASSASSIN und pardauz es rumpelt wohlig in der Kiste. Nur das diese Kiste Frachtgut aus Italien ist, quasi den Pot6t nach Süden verlagert. Wen wundert es da noch, dass Onkel Tom auch seinen Gastpart auf der Scheibe bekommt. Die Songs gehen durchweg sehr roh und dreckig über die Ladentheke, verzichten auf zu viel Technik oder unerwünschte harmonische Ausschweifungen. Dafür wird wahlweise auf Tempo gesetzt und gerammelt was das Zeug hält oder bei den selteneren halben Umdrehungen mit satten Riffs gekontert. Dabei macht die Gitarre einen regelrecht schnoddrigen, ja schrammligen Eindruck, hat eher was von einer unrund laufenden Kettensäge als einem echten 6 – Saiter.."
