Ian Turner is a composer, performer and filmmaker whose most recent endeavors span across many mediums of performance and recoding art. He composes for and performs with several bands, including Brothelkin and the Morphones, each of whom will have new albums released early in 2009, to be followed by his solo album scheduled for release later this year. Most recently, Mr. Turner wrote, directed and starred in 'Raul and Marie's Adnventures on the Vernal Equinox' (2008, featuring the formidable dancer EmmaGrace Skove-Epes) a black and white physical silent film about a couple who are crazy for one another but can't stand each other's pets.. He also composed 3 pieces of music for piano which were performed by Blair Mcmillan of the DaCapo Chamber orchestra under the supervision of Joan Tower(2008). Ian mixed Angus Martin's newest album 'Le Demimonde'(2008). He musically directed and composed / arranged the score for 'Cock Fight Club' (an adaptation of a midsummer night's dream, directed by Daniel Fish, performed at the Richard B. Fischer Center for Performing Arts, 2008) Mr. Turner performed as a dancer in 'The Deep End' (choreographed by EmmaGrace Skove-Epes 2008). He composed and musically directed the score for Carol Churchill's 'The Skriker' (directed by Nat Kucinitz, Bard College, 2008) With musical partner Daniel Bieber, Mr. Turner collaboratively composed and musically directed a brand new score for 'Marat/Sade' (directed by Susanna Gellert, Richard B. Fischer Center, 2007). Among others, his goals for 2009 are to make a series of music videos and to master the delicate art of spelt filo pastry making.
