Bio
The band started out as a livingroom jamming party which consisted of Sigurgrimur on guitar and vocal, Edda on guitar and Halli Shoshan on bass guitar.
About
A long time friend of Sigurgrímur, Addi from Sólstafir was quickly recruited as a jamming member and some 3 songs were hammered together. Obviously Addi was never considered as a permanent member of the band because of his position in Sólstafir so the hunt for a permanent drumer was on. During the fall of 2005 Sigurgrímur came in contact with Gunni Svenn, a young aspiring drummer in a metalcore band named In Dreams I Conquer All. Gunni agreed to join the band which was given the name Elegy.
The group immediately booked it's first concert on the following day and had two months to write more material and rehearse it for the gig. In the next 8 monts the band played 3 more gigs, one of them as support for Municipal Waste in Reykjavík. With an arsenal of 6 completed songs, the band hit Stúdíó Helvíti (Studio Hell), which Sigurgrímur co-owns and operates, to record the first demo that now goes by the name "Undefied Fear". During the recording sessions, due to personal reasons, the band fell out and split up.
Sigurgrímur and Gunni were now in search for new members and a new name, after the discovery that Elegy was already taken by another group. After a tip on a new bassguitarist from Gísli of Changer, Sigurgrímur contacted Atli, an acquaintance from the early death metal scene in Iceland and 2 became 3. After a ahort brainstorming session, Helshare was chosen as the bands new name, it's roots deriving from nordic mythology. Helshare then started rehearsing as a 3 piece and speculating on a second guitarist. Then in late 2006 we found our man, Dolli was signed on and with our first concert booked on the 16th of December, things started moving on!
Since the first gig, Helshare has steadily been building their reputation in Icelands metal scene, no gig too small and we play with everybody. Studio time is planned in May 2007 where we intend to record our first full length album. Already we have 9 finished songs and the 10th song is in the foundry. Gigs are currently lining up, good calendar for the summer so the year 2007 is our year! Stay Tuned…
Concert reviews:
“Síðasta upphitunarband kvöldsins var Helshare og fullnægðu þeir öllum mínum metal þörfum fyrir komandi mánuði. Svo djöfullegir voru tónar þeirra að ég hélt á tímum að þarna væri ég að líta ofan í vítishlið okkar Íslendinga, Heklu sjálfa. Kraftur Helshare var ægilegur, og þegar þeir höfðu lokið sér af hefði ég vel getað farið heim, algjörlega sáttur við tónleikana og að hafa „eytt“ skitnum þúsund krónum í þessa frábæru upplifun.”
“The last support band tonight was Helshare and they satisfied my every need for metal for the coming months. Their sound were so diabolical thatat times I imagined myself looking through the the Icelandic Gates to Hell, the volcano Hekla itself!. The power of Helshare was awesome and when they had finished their set, I could have gone home, totally satisfied with the concert and for “spent” a measly 1000kr admission fee for this fantastic experience”
Tommy The Cat – Harðkjarni
“The next band was Helshare and I have to say these kats were my personal favorite. The crowd went absolutely crazy for these guys and the sound was freaking huge (they play mesa boogie too which is awesome). These guys are the coolest kats and I want to thank Sigurgrimur ( YOU RULE BRO), Gunni (Yes Gunni is a beast behind the kit!) Dolli my shred brutha who is just bad ass(mesa boogie brutha for life). And there's a reason why this guy names comes up last.........Atli is the bass player for Helshare and is that one kat you love about metal. You could tell Atli lives and breathes metal in the purest way and the kat just RULES on all the above”
