“The envelopes, please:
• BEST CD (All Styles):
1) The Gunpoets, "Shoot The Stars" -
A few years ago, Cypher:Dissident gave the local hiphop scene a real boost with a great CD. Most of that band is now part of the Gunpoets, which grew out of frontman Dan "Rising Sun" Lisbe's solo albums. A smashing debut, "Shoot the Stars" is chock-full of great songs that blend hiphop with pop, soul and rock influences. There's also guest appearances from Ave Mack, Thousands of One's Jhakeem Haltom and the Sim Redmond Band's Jen Middaugh, not to mention great production by former Armageddon Monks guitarist Steve Goldman.
*The Gunpoets also won BEST SONG with 'Nive to Five.'”
