Bio

. . . second generation folk/rock guitarist/vocalist. Parents V. Glen and Kay D. Washburn (50's folk artists)Solo folk/blues show ;
Croswell Opera House; Feb, 1985; first concert.
Since then, have been in numerous church bands; not specifically a "Christian" artist, although there is much of that type of material
in my work and I was, briefly, in Christian Death Metal band, Synagogue.
1999 met Angie Chapko, formed WAKE as a folk/rock duo. Released memorial album, Douglas Cole privately; then as internet release
of slightly modified version of same on Amazon.com.
2006-7 I was back in the studio working on a follow-up; had my heart attack then so I took a while on and off having surgery and what not. www.gregwake.com

About

ALIVE IN YOU
The entire album was inspired by the tragic passing of Angie's dear friend, Douglas Cole Harvey tragically from a rare form of cancer during the making of this album.  This song is one of those specifically inspired by this event. It began simply as Angie's rhythm and my lead; then we let it sit for a week or so andadded the piano and strings.  During the '07 sessions I added drums and ghosted an electric lead (so it now has acoustic, classical and electric solos)
      BURNIN' DOWN THE BLUES
Angie came up with this song quite early on, c.1999; I played with it a couple times and it was intact.  By the time we recorded it, we had played it scores of times, so we used the first take.  We mastered it like that so we could make the deadline for the album.  During the '07 sessions , I added drums and ghosted that second electric guitar.
We hope you are able to enjoy these two examples of our earlier musical development and we hope you take a look at the whole album, too.  Thanks,
Greg Robertson's WAKE

                                         ======+++++++======+++++++=====+++++=======
I have put a few of my songs up here; none of them are totally complete; they are works in progress. .

EMANCIPATION [ acoustic (with slideshow-video) & electric ]
The acoustic version of the song is also on the youtube link.
This is a song commemorating every man's struggle against oppression; it is a song of freedom.

118
This is a very simple instrumental jam; based loosely on a couple of chords at the beginning of
that real cool Allman bros. tune, Dreams.   The title refers simply to the date it was composed.
Always fun tryin' to title an instrumental; you should've seen us during the first album.

BENDEN WHITE
Again, both electric and acoustic versions of a song I do  quite a bit.
There's a significant sized description of the song on the gregwake website.
The acoustic version was recorded and mixed by Ikes of Lochabar sound.  It was recorded live at the now legendary Magdelena's Teahouse some time in May of '09.

BACK IN MY LIFE
Just another love song. . .

PACK BACK
A folk song about a hippie and his 'pack back'. . .

All these songs will be on the next album from Greg Robertson's WAKE which will appear sometime soon.

[The  first album (online version) is available at amazon.com under WAKE Douglas Cole.  http://xrl.us/bezfza is the link. There are ten songs on that album; each available for 89 cents per song download and $5.99 for the entire ten-song album.]

***************              ****************            ****************          *******************                  *************************

We have three fan exclusive songs now too.

APPLES, ORANGES AND PEARS

This song was written c. 1978 by my mother Kay D. Robertson but was never recorded in her lifetime but we will be including this on our next album, too.

RESOUND (1: Reformation; 2: Restoration.)

This song is on our first album and will be on our second album too.  It serves as a musical bridge between the work then and the work now.

 SOLACE

This song was composed in c.'99 but not recorded in any form until the '07 sessions.  This is unfinished ; obviously the drums and percussion will be up .  I'm putting it up to show what the song sounds like so far.  The feeling is to have latin percussion in the beginning, then reg. drums during the rock part.  I'm open, as usual, to any ideas. . .

These three songs have been included in our fan exclusive area which means that when you register as a fan, you will be able to download these as well.  They are unique versions in that they are not yet finished and may take on a different texture when completed. .
