About

Going back and forth across this country from the Yukon, Gordie has performed some 200 shows a year either solo or with his band. He writes his own songs, plays a guitar, uses a slide, blows a harmonica, and is sometimes touched with a voice like a bird on a warm spring morning belting out the last day on earth. He also does other things before he gets to share his music like book his tours, promote them, manage his band, radio track his records, act as an agent, road manager, publicist, apply for things, pay for everything, parent the kids and make time for the girl.

Feeling lucky to get this far with only his fortune amounting in friends, he continues to build a steady career upon Canadian tours, festival appearances, and showcases while garnering airplay in Canada, U.S, Europe and Australia. His debut album "29 Loads of Freight" was released in 2004 to rave reviews, more shows, a documentary (www.topoftheworldfilms.com) and the opportunity to munch on many a snack tray with his hero's. He recently spent last winter mentoring with Canadian roots/blues man Rick Fines.

In 2007 Gordie released his new album "Bottleneck to Wire' with special guests Roger Marin (Fred Eaglesmith Band)- pedal steel, Jaxon Haldane (D-Rangers)- banjo, Amelia Rose (Fishhead Stew)- fiddle, Aylie Sparkes- guitar and Kim Barlow- cello.

Over the last two years he has performed at: North Country Fair, Peterborough Folk Festival, Dauphin Countryfest, Alaska State Fair, Toronto Film Festival, Blue Feather Music Festival, Prince George Folk Festival, Dawson City Music Festival, Canada Music Week, Alsek Music Festival, Edge of the World Music Festival, Folk on the Rocks Festival, Ontario Contact Showcase, Fred Eaglesmith Picnic, Atlin Arts & Music Festival, North By Northeast Festival, Frostbite Music Festival and Winterfolk Roots & Blues Festival. He recently showcased at the Western Canadian Music Awards earning rave reviews for his live show performing for a full house of music industry folks.

Gordie has also had the good fortune of opening up or sharing the stage with: Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, Rick Fines, Kelly Joe Phelps, The Swifty's, Fred Eaglesmith, Roger Marin, D-Rangers, Carolyn Mark, Kim Beggs, Alpha Ya Ya Dialo, Paul Reddick, Gordie Sampson, Anne Louise Genest, Old Reliable, Aylie Sparkes, Indio Saravanja, Lee Boys, George Leach, Kim Barlow and Big Dave Mclean.

Most recently Gordie is staking claim to be the first Canadian roots musician to be backed by an airline company. www.flyairnorth.com
