Global Artists Collective presents ‘Exploring Cross-Cultural Connections in Performance’ featuring hip hop & Zimbabwean performer Draze, Eric & Encarnación's Duo Flamenco, hip hop soul band Global Heat with MC PSMIITH & Unleashed b-boys, and KUDJO band led by Ghanian vocalist and songwriter Kudjo Achem. From recent success with his music video "The Hood Ain't The Same" exploring the issue of gentrification in black urban neighborhoods, to his fusion of Zimbabwean music and hip hop, Draze and band represent a future direction in world hip hop. http://draze206.com/ Eric & Encarnación have received international acclaim for the deep connection and intense energy permeating their traditional Flamenco performances. With Flamenco de Raiz and world/rock super-group Children of the Revolution, E&E have played sold-out theaters across the NW and headlined Quebec's prestigious World Guitar Festival. http://flamencoseattle.com/ Global Heat is known as “a hip-hoppin' rock fusion, funk rapping, break dancing good time!” [Seattle Art Institute]. For this showcase, they will feature MC PSMIITH, ill Gem Joe, & Unleashed b-boys. www.global-heat.com Paying homage to Fela and Bob Marley, KUDJO’s original tunes are rooted in traditional African sounds and reggae. In addition to leader Kudjo Achem from Accra, Ghana, the band includes fellow Ghanaian drummer Yaw Amponsah (son of legendary palm-wine guitarist Koo Nimo) and Seattle musicians on lead guitar, keyboards, saxophone, bass, and percussion. http://www.kudjomusic.com/
