Bio
Girl Friday playfully bases her moniker on Defoe's loyal and competent Man Friday as a comparison with her own busy and somewhat servant life; That and the fact that she was the only female playing at a particular venue on Fridays in her first foray back into the music industry after an extended hiatus! :-) Segueing from teaching in the elementary classroom to the fitness and dance studio, Girl Friday is currently enjoying writing original compositions, recording demos in her home studio, and performing live wherever she can! Best of all, her first four track EP, produced by Dan Workman and recorded at Sugar Hill Studios in Houston, is now complete and available on CD Baby and I-tunes!
About
Girl Friday plays a 16 Series, 14 Fret Cutaway custom Martin acoustic electric guitar, Yamaha keyboard (for effects), ROLAND FP electric piano, Fender Stratocaster electric guitar (for the occasional need to jam), and a cool, carved Djembe drum (when pounding something inanimate becomes a therapeutic necessity.)
In her tech arsenal, she has a Boss Loop Station (for KT Tunstall moments), a DigiTech Vocalist 4 (for live harmony or instances where there might be need to sound like a chipmunk :-), a Tascam 4 track Portastudio5 (for burning tracks to MP3,) a Tascam 2488 24 track digital studio, and several other cool recording studio toys!
All tracks currently posted on this site were professionally recorded at Sugar Hill Studios in Houston, TX and produced by Dan Workman. Band members were: Eric Jarvis, Bass; Falcon Valdez, Drums and percussion; Josh Moore, piano and accordian; GF, vocals, backing vocals, acoustic guitar; Steve Christensen, sound engineer; Allen Corneau, mastering engineer.
