About
Gabriel the Marine is an Indie Rock band from Long Island, New York that incorporates unique elements of classical violin and jazzy vocals, hinting accessibility and catchiness of a mature pop band while being headed by members who aren't even old enough to drink.
In their short six month span, the band self-released a Self/Titled Demo, garnering attention on online music blogs and forums, as well as frequent circulation on radio stations such as KRock (92.3 FM). The group continued to play, and shared the stage with such artists as Anberlin, Mae, Cash Cash, Meese, The Scenic, and many more.
In the Spring of 2009, the band entered VuDu Studios in Freeport, New York to work with producer Mike Watts (The Almost, Self Against City, As Cities Burn) to record their five song EP "Your Friends and Loved Ones". Soon after the band was featured on the 2009 Bamboozle Festival with headlining artists No Doubt and Taking Back Sunday, and was featured in Spin Magazine's Top "15 Bands You Must-Hear-At-Bamboozle". Since then they have also garnered approval from bands like Hit the Lights and Envy on the Coast as well as the attention from publications like Newsday, Substream Magazine, and The Daily Chorus. The band has been featured repeatedly on AbsolutePunk and Purevolume.
This summer, the band will be touring with Asteria, A Love Like Pi, and Theater Breaks Loose on their first national tour of the United States to garner buzz for their EP, "Your Friends and Loved Ones", slated to be released on September 13th, 2009.
