Bio

Fremont John, joined by Michael Carden on percussion, just completed recording of a new CD entitled “Guitar Songs”

Guitar Songs consists of 9 original instrumentals and a cover of Santana's "Europa". "Europa" features former Clapton bassist, Fernando Saunders. "This track may blow your socks clean off your feet and straight into the wash!" There're several excellent tracks on the CD! This is John's first time engineering a CD. It’s a CD of many firsts for John; first all-instrumentals, first w/ no drum kit, mostly no bass. It contains his first finger-style composition, “Peace”.

GUITAR SONGS is scheduled for release on 12/01/09 but you can pre-order by e-mailing fremontjohn@fremontjohn.com.

Biography
FREMONT JOHN BIO

“Acoustic Thunder, No Bull” is the title of the article written about Fremont John 10 years ago after he first moved to Key West to start his new life as a full-time singer, guitarist and songwriter.  “Acoustic Thunder” seems an apt nickname for this dynamic yet humble bar singer.  A short time later came the “Acoustic Thunder CD” and  packing them in night after night at The Bull in Key West with Fremont John's “Acoustic Thunder Band”.  But, having grown tired of the constraints and remoteness of island living, John and wife, Margi left Key West for the Florida Gulf Coast settling in Sarasota in 2005.

John now tours continuously throughout the state of Florida and beyond, playing over 200 shows each year.  Unique to entertainers in Florida, Fremont John refrains from adding Jimmy Buffet or Trop Rock songs to his repertoire under the premise that “the last thing Florida needs is one more guy  playing Jimmy Buffet tunes.”  As his original music becomes more known to the folks attending his performances it has begun to take up more time in his shows.  The remaining repertoire  consists of carefully chosen Classic Rock and Blues covers which, are then rearranged to assuage his creative craving and to make them his own.

This stubborn individualist, a self-proclaimed “Contrarian”, has endeared himself to Florida's residents and tourists alike becoming one of the most renown and respected solo performers in the state.  A DJ at Tampa's WMNF, recently introduced him on air as a Florida legend.  John has been written up in almost every paper from Key West to Tampa. His fan base reaches across the USA and to many parts of the globe thanks to his tenure in Key West and his diligent online networking.

“He sings like a man on a mission of purpose!" says Edgar Struble, Music Director for the 2008 Country Music Awards.   A TAXI reviewer recently wrote of John's original tunes, “his songs…show a vast understanding of writing, arranging, and overall musical wisdom.”  Neil Young included John's song about our soldiers in Iraq, "Devil's Dune" on his web site “Living with War Today”.  John emceed the famous Key West Songwriter Festival, sharing the stage with some of Nashville's top songwriters including Mark Selby “Blue on Black” and Grammy winner, Tia Sillers “I Hope You Dance”.

Wowing NYC record producer Larry Baeder with his songwriting led to the 2006 indie CD release, "Timeline" with,  Baeder producing.  A national radio campaign for "Timeline" resulted in FM airplay in many cities while global airplay came via hundreds of Internet stations. Two songs from the CD, "No Pity On Me" and "Devil's Dune”, were semi-finalists in the 2006 Dallas Songwriters Assn. songwriting contest.  His consistent gigging earned him the #1 Top-booked artist spot on SonicBids.com touting over 100,000 member artists!  He has also been a featured pre-game performer at Tropicana Field for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays for two years running.

Along with regular gigging, Winter 2009 will find him in the studio recording a much anticipated solo guitar CD of  original works.  That will be closely followed by a full production CD “Contrarian” due for Spring  release.  He returns to his hometown of Ludington Michigan to perform with former bandmates as part of the West Shore Community College Performing Arts Series.
