EG was born in Dublin, Georgia to a musically engaging family, encompassed by music from the day she entered this world. Her grandfather was a southern preacher, her mother was a gospel singer, and her grandmother a guitar player. By age four, EG was singing solo at the church, at fifteen she was performing country music at civic events and festivals. Distraught after a teenage heartbreak, she penned her first song at sixteen, a pivotal moment that gave birth to a song- writer. She discovered the ability to grasp the emotion, write about it, put it to music, and tell the story from the heart.

The songstress was soon performing on stage with some of country music's greats like George Jones and Jerry Lee Lewis. At the height of her country career, she appeared several times on The Nashville Network’s “Nashville Now”, the popular, long-running live variety show that featured country music legends as well as up-and-coming artists like Garth Brooks and Reba McEntire.
Prior to 1995, EG's exposure to the blues consisted mainly of B.B. King, Bobby Blue Bland, Sonny James, and Elvis Presley. That year, she heard an astonishing voice that would leave a lasting impression – Koko Taylor’s. As a result, EG’s music took a dramatic turn towards the blues.

Her music now crosses many borders that tastefully incorporate jazz, country, southern rock, gospel and funk, but according to Kight, the blues has become the backbone of her music. Since 1995, EG has been nominated for six Blues Music Awards. She has shared the stage with blues legends, had two of her songs land on Grammy®-nominated albums, and toured overseas, even teaching workshops in Italy and Germany. And her latest release on MC Records, “It’s Hot In Here” is riding the charts.

Touring the states continuously, EG finds herself in an array of venues, night after night, bringing her blend of the blues to the fans. She considers herself a singer first, but her writing is a vital component of her artistry – sharing her words gathered from inspirations of everyday life with the listener.
