About
Warm greetings and a multitude of thanks to all of you kind people who write such kind words and warm regards. You make it all worth while. :)
In short (?):
DNA-Groove (or Eliran Ben Ishai, if ever you meet me in person) is an Israeli musician who currently lives in Tel Aviv.
Being the emotional person that I am, I try to aim my music at emotions and originality, rather than musical styles - which means I'm practically addicted to harmony and melody. That basically kills all none melodic styles for me (Rap, Psy/Hard Trance etc). Not all of my tracks are emotional or particularly original, but basically those are my only guidelines.
My musical tools are very basic - in terms of hardware all I use is a Roland XP50 mostly as a MIDI controller (the sounds are nice, but start to show signs of age in terms of complexity) and a Tascam FW-1082 as an Audio Interface and controller. But when it comes to software, it's also where it gets interesting. :)
Given my unorthodox musical education, I use Renoise 1.9 as my main sketch pad and composing tool. I find it easiest to convey my ideas in that medium more than anything else. I don't play well on any instruments and I think much too fast for my fingers. This is where Renoise rescues me. For the final mix and some more complicated VST work (live play, mostly) I use Sonar 7. My personal favorite VSTi would have to be Albino 3, Massive and FM8.
My influences can be traced back to Jean Michel Jarre (obviously), a LOT of oldskool "demoscene" tracking music, J.S.Bach, Enya, Oliver Shanti, Joe Satriani, Vangelis and more along the exemplary lines of those fine ladies and gentlemen.
Thank you.
