FRIDAY, 9/7 at 8PM -> I’m super excited to announce this, I’ve been working to make it happen all Summer and it’s finally here. We’re celebrating three of the best artists of all-time, silent disco style, on the Meadowlark’s beautiful patio, AT NIGHT!!!!! Now’s a good time to familiarize yourself with what a silent disco is, if you’re not familiar. Here’s the silent disco definition from wikipedia -> “Silent disco has become a common name for a disco where people dance to music listened to on wireless he adphones. Rather than using a speaker system, music is broadcast via an FM-transmitter with the signal being picked up by wireless headphone receivers worn by the participants. Those without the headphones hear no music, giving the effect of a room full of people dancing to nothing. Often two or more DJs compete for listeners. Silent discos are popular at music festivals as they allow dancing to continue past noise curfews.” So basically you come into the patio, get a pair of special headphones and can tune into one of three stations, with each one with a different DJ playing a different artist; one all Michael Jackson and family, one Prince and crew, one Stevie Wonder and affiliated artists. As the party gets a little closer I’ll announce the rest of the DJ lineup and who’s repping who, but trust, your ears are in for a ridiculous, surreal night of dancing to some of the best artists ever, on the Meadowlark’s incredible patio (which normally can’t have music after 10PM because of noise ordinances, in what has to be one of the biggest shames in Denver). We only have 100 headphone so make sure you come out early, so you don’t get stuck waiting for a pair to become available. The party starts at 8PM, it’s 21+ and the $10 cover gets you in the door plus a special set of headphones for the night. Last but not least, we’ll be featuring $5 Red Bull & Svedkas and $2 Red Bulls all night long.

“I sit snuggled in my booth working on my laptop while Warren G’s ‘Regulate’ and The Articfact’s ‘The Wrong Side of the Tracks’ acapellas are manipulated by DJ Vajra and remixed by the band. I’d say the eclectic décor perfectly highlights Bigwheel’s approach to music. The band takes familiar and unfamiliar songs, cuts and twists J-Dilla style loops to create an entirely new beat fresh out the kick-drum, keys, bass, and Technics. What was once a familiar Hip-Hop anthem is newly twisted and mixed into a sometimes spaced out jazz lick or a salsa fury, but still funked up by the keys and the bass. At another moment you can hear Martin Luther King Jr’s “I Have a Dream” speech sliced, diced, and flared by Vajra into the back-beat mayhem provided by Dameion Hines on the drums while the melodic bass and piano are slicked out by Charles Parker and Jarod Sarlo, respectively.”
