The Delmar Brown World Pop Experience brings together musical elements from around planet and fuses them together forming a unique blend of music he has termed as World Pop. This musical unification from different cultural sources and American pop music originates from a person who is surrounded by music from a variety of cultures. As a young man, Delmar Brown was a shining star in Bloomington, Illinois where was a church pianist, organist, and choir member. The young Delmar admired and was influenced by the great jazz musicians including Jimmy Smith, Herbie Hancock, and Oscar Peterson. The gospel greats Mahalia Jackson, James Cleveland, and C.L. Franklin were his earliest vocal influences. After studies at the Berklee College of Music, the training ground for some of today’s finest jazz musicians, Delmar went on to play and compose for some of the most influential musicians in the global industry including Gil Evans, Miles Davis, Quincy Jones, Jaco Pastroius and many others. Delmar's travels and love of the music of the world brought him in contact with innovative pop musicians. Through the years he collaborated with notable figures such as Sting, Youssou N'Dour, and Peter Gabriel. Today Delmar Brown fuses the smooth sound of jazz, earthiness of World Music, and high energy of pop music to drive the Delmar Brown World Pop Experience which mixes musical elements from the Caribbean to Eastern Europe. This music is truly unique reaching deep into the soul with a throbbing rhythm and a grounded sound which touches and uplifts. When you listen to the Delmar Brown World Pop Experience your being fills with good energy urging you to experience it over and over again! THE SHACKELTONS The Shackeltons are a band with a uniquely powerful voice. Named for the arctic explorer Ernest Shackleton, the Chambersburg, PA band has already been on quite the ride, having built a loyal following of fans the likes of Rolling Stone, SPIN, KEXP, Chris Walla, and NPR. In 2008, they released their self-titled LP on Seattle's Loveless Records, astonishing fans and critics with the trademark epic rawness and urgency of their post-punk style of indie rock. In the years since, the Shackeltons have played with bands like Spoon and Cage the Elephant, wowing audiences with the energy and near-transcendent power of their live show. Heading back into the studio in late 2010 and early 2011, the Shackeltons are now ready to unleash their latest batch of decisively unique and stirring songs upon the world. THE HIPSTER ASSASSINS The brothers Pastorius, Felix and Julius grew up in Florida. Growing up around musical instruments throughout the house, they both have cut their teeth on their craft since an early age. Throughout their formative years in Florida, they befriended the Bendy brothers, John and Mike. John and Mike Bendy have been playing music together since day one. John and Mike's talent are limitless, they have respect for the past with influences ranging from the blues, rock, jazz and metal. John bring's fierce facemelting guitar solos to the bandstand, as well as beauty to complement the slower numbers. Mike with his cutting edge, drop kick bass playing works as a perfect foil to Felix's bass pyrotechnics. They also have a band with Julius, the Bendy Pastorius Group. Currently all the brothers live in New York. Since the move, they've been hitting the music scene hard, playing at some of the top clubs such as the 55 bar. Currently they have a weekly gig at the Zinc Bar in New York's famous West Village, where they were introduced to saxophonist Chris Ward. Since then they've been continuing to hone their sound on the bandstand through weekly jams. Besides Hipster Assassins, Felix also tours with Jeff Coffin(Bela Fleck and Dave Matthews)'s Mutet and Cindy Blackman's Another Lifetime Quartet. It's a hard hitting groove infused band with muscle
