Once again we'll be raising the bar with another marathon session keeping the music, spirit & legacy of Fela Anikulapo Kuti alive in London. As always The Dele Sosimi Afrobeat Orchestra will be hitting you up with their mix of originals & classic Fela tracks and DJ Koichi Sakai will be spinning his collection of rare Afrobeat & Hi-Life tunes. Dele Sosimi's Afrobeat pedigree is impeccable. He was keys player & musical director in Fela Kuti’s Egypt 80 and subsequently with Femi Kuti’s Positive Force. More recently he was Musical Director & Afrobeat Music Consultant for award winning musical FELA! at the National Theatre in London. Dele’s pulsating live shows demonstrate his vision of Afrobeat - one that is faithful to the original blueprint, but also clearly bears Dele’s own DNA, expanding the horizons of the genre. His "Afrobeat Vibration" is widely regarded as London's top underground event.

“Wah Wah 45s are proud to announce signing Dele Sosimi ~ There’s been some big news coming out from Wah Wah 45s HQ of late. As the label celebrates its 15th birthday, an opportunity is presented to reflect, take stock and look ahead to the future. Signing Afrobeat King Dele Sosimi is a statement of intent for what’s to come. Dele’s excited by the future and lives his art form in constant evolution. His writing process and inspiration has developed as he has gained life experience. “If a melody starts rolling I’ll loop it for a few days then leave it alone. Not in a hurry, let it marinade then switch it on later. If I like it I’ll take it to the band, then the live experience can go take it in any direction – I learnt that from Fela… Playing at the Shrine (Fela’s legendary club spot in Lagos, Nigeria) was heaven and can’t be replicated.” Dele’s enthusiasm is complemented by a supporting orchestra that believe in the project and allow him the freedom to create.”
