About
Dead Leaf Echo is waiting to bring you their New Album "Pale Fire" in 2008
The relentlessly downbeat rhythms are complemented by some strident gothic guitar whilst the bruised vocals of the mysteriously-named LG capture the spirit of 4AD melancholia perfectly. (Review-Jon Leonard- leonardslair.co.uk)
Dead Leaf Echo have delivered an album to delight and entrance, an impressively rich sounding experience, this is a band on grandiose form. (UK MusicSearch)
Sounding something like a proto-shoegazing band.... Dead Leaf Echo is a mysterious and obtuse band that teeters between the lines of what is dark alternative and what is dream pop.(Review from First Coast News, Paul Zimmerman)
You can hear traces of Will Sargeant's clean, choppy, delayed guitar.........make you think of This Mortal Coil as they slowly unwind. (David Smith, Delusions of Adequacy)
It never stays grey for long. After yesterday's dispiriting wet bed so to today's dry, whirling hammock and proof that inventive and thrusting indie can work beautifully, and what a bloody fantastic record this is! Indie, in the raw..........Somewhere between a tougher Hurrah! and a wilder Red Guitars you can plot bulging indie zest like this back to the 80's, but thereafter it petered out, as shoegazing lumbered in along ungainly jangling indie, so if this is making a comeback, as it appears to be, we can only throw other people's hats in the air and rejoice. (For modern reference, somewhere between a mournful Bell Hollow and reflective Hearts Fail, if that helps?) (Review-Mick's Daily Journal-mickmercer.com)
The outcome is somewhere between dreamy indie-pop and watery post-punk. For fans of early U2, For Against, Astral and Slowdive.(Review- The Black and White.com)
This album made my inner goth very happy. Dead Leaf Echo, led by the mysteriously-named LG, takes The Cure and U2 and modernizes them, creating darker versions of a siren song. 80s new wavers definitely need to give this a listen. Your new heroes have arrived.(Jenifer Layton-Indie-Music.com)
With slightly laid back vocals, and music that alternates between low key indie rock, to more heavy and driving fare.....................all combines to create a very relaxed and somewhat unsettling atmosphere. (Joshua Pfeiffer-Post-Punk.com)
"Shell of Love" is one of those amazing moments immortalized, the perfect take, the perfect sound, the perfect mix, and you couldn't ever do it the same way again if you tried. Billy Gray-(Review from Sceneless.com)
