The DAVID VALDEZ/WEBER IAGO Latin Jazz Quartet: Weber Iago/David Valdez Latin-Jazz Quartet w/Andrea Niemic & Jason Palmer. This is high energy GREAT music! Modern original Latin-Jazz: influenced by the music of Brazil, Cuba, Angentina, mixed with a healthy dose straight-ahead Jazz for good measure.
6 – 7:30pm Jim Templeton at Piano, no cover! 8:00pm David Valdez/Weber Iago Latin-Jazz Quartet $10 With Chris Higgins on bass and Reinhardt Meltz on drums. Saxophonist David Valdez is a force to be reckoned with. He has worked with players like Dave Holland, Clark Terry, Charlie Hunter, Kurt Rosenwinkle, and George Colligan; to name a few. Pianist and composer Weber Iago incorporates instrumentation, form, and harmonic language from both the Classical and Jazz traditions with this Chamber-Jazz project. His compositions masterfully blend the diverse stylistic elements drawn from the deep traditions of his native Rio de Janeiro, French Impressionistic composers like Debussy and Ravel, Contemporary Classical Chamber Music and cutting edge Modern Jazz. Iago has a highly lyrical melodic sensibility, the harmonic sophistication of a Post-bop Jazz musician and the elastic rhythmic conception of someone who is steeped in the Brazilian musical traditions from an early age.
