About

DARK HARVEST was founded in 2002 by ex-EXIZT guitarist Gulli Falk, bass player Maddi (Forgarður Helvítis) and drummer Kristján Björn Heiðarsson (Bootlegs, Changer).

By the spring of 2003 Dark Harvest had quickly gained good reputation as a live act, even though there was no vocalist to complete the lineup. In late 2003 the band entered "Studio Sundlaugin" (recording studio owned by the band Sigur Rós) and recorded a demo entitled “Deeper”. Vocal duties where handled by Jenni of Brain Police (Iceland’s foremost stoner rock band, they opened for Metallica in Iceland in 2004 along with Minus). The demo included one instrumental song, Samba la Vista, which would also turn up on a later release.

Between 2003 and 2006 Dark Harvest where invited to open up for numerous foreign bands in Iceland. Among them Instil from Holland, Tyr from the Faroe Islands, Evergrey, Amon Amarth and Freak Kitchen from Sweden, Dead After School from the UK and The Fucking Champs, Last Crack, Alabama Thunderpussy, Good Clean Fun, Minus The Bear and Mastodon from the USA.

In the spring of 2006 “Dark Harvest”, the band's first full length album, was released. It contains only instrumental songs. In April 2006 Dark Harvest played on the Headway progressive rock festival in Holland. In the summer of 2006 Kristján left the band in order to focus on his duties for his main act, Changer.

In September 2006 Gísli joined the band as a vocalist and in the summer of 2007 Kristján Einar (Momentum, In Siren) joined on drums. In September 2007 Dark Harvest played two concerts at Angel's Place, the clubhouse of Hells Angels Motor Club in Oslo Norway.

In mid year of 2008 Kristján Björn resumed his drummer's duties in Dark Harvest and the band played a few gigs in Reykjavík, Akureyri and Húsavík, including two concerts opening up for the German thrash metal band Contradiction.

In the first months of 2009 Dark Harvest is going to focus on recording demos and preparing for a second full length album. A new song, Two More, has already be recorded as a demo and is available on our web page (http://myspace.com/darkharvestonline).
