Formed and based in Jonesboro, Arkansas the current lineup of Arkansas metal band Dark Embrace came together in July of 2006. Founding members Jason Barker, Patrick McNamee, and Brad Johnson formed Dark Embrace a few years ago, but the band endured several personnel changes over time. The band also had yet to find the right sound and the right musicians to propel the group to new musical heights.
In the summer of 2006, Dark Embrace found itself once again in need of a lead vocalist and lead guitarist that would help define a new direction for the group. Mike and Dan Turner answered the call in the summer of 2006. It quickly became apparent the band found a more musically refined and edgier sound. Soon afterwards this revitalization translated as Dark Embrace began wowing crowds all over the Mid-South with their powerfully dramatic live performances, bold lyrical statements, and charismatic personalities. In a very short time Dark Embrace gained momentum and respect amongst fans and musical peers alike.
In the true spirit of the American underground music scene Dark Embrace recorded, produced, mixed, mastered and released their first recording independently through their own label, Dark Embrace Entertainment with duplication provided by Discmakers. Dark Embrace locally released their first EP of new material on April 24th 2007. In less than a couple of months, Dark Embrace has sold hundreds of copies of their new album without radio airplay, press or a major record label; proof positive that this band has brought forth success on their own terms and will continue to do so in the long term. Downloadable tracks became available on May 21st, 2007 to the rest of the world. Copies of the new EP can also be purchased through the CD Baby link found on this page.
Dark Embrace is playing and will continue to play concerts throughout the summer of 2007 and well into the fall to support the new EP. 2007 is already a huge year for this hard working band. Join Dark Embrace today!!!
Other Achievements: Dark Embrace was voted as a finalist in the Battle for MySpace put on by HM concerts and Management; they won the ‘best metal band' category and 5th overall in the Gold Star Club MySpace poll of the best bands in Arkansas. Dark Embrace has performed at the Memphis in May Beale Street Music Festival and the Breakout Festival in Memphis TN. The band performed at a St. Jude's Benefit show held by Clear Channel Radio back in January of 2007. Dark Embrace has also been featured in a few articles in the local press in past few weeks. More to come in the near future!!!
