Cult of Riggonia / Press

“Cult of Riggonia could really be from another time, or another planet. There are snippets of ancient Aztec worlds mixed with remote Appalachian villages, mingling with a lost order of monks, feeding through a Martian amplifier. And somehow it is all still pleasing to the ear. We recommend open minds, eyes and ears for this one.”

The 11th Hour

“Experimental soundscapes with tribal, world music beats and ornate instrumentation.”

The Flagpole

“Cult of Riggonia might possibly be too weird for Macon. Or Macon might be too weird for Cult... They wouldn’t be on this lineup if we didn’t feel they were worthwhile, it’s just that the Riggonians aren’t afraid to push the boundaries of live performance that many artists find themselves constrained to so often. And to seal the deal, these guys actually know what they’re doing, so don’t expect a disorganized or dissonant set. Not all of the Riggonian’s is as accessible as their recent material but it’s worth looking into. The bottom line is you’re going to have fun. Wear something loose.”

The Blue Indian

“Their brand of experimental folky craziness takes a listen or two to make sense of what’s going on but once you catch the melody it’s all over. Fresh produce builds into an all out celebration of summer time through the one thing that is easily noticeable in Georgia, summer means fresh produce. The cult are off the wall and insanely creative.”

“Melodies are everywhere... and they all get stuck in your head whether you understand the words and odd musical phrasing or not”

Clark Bush - Macon Noise Fanzine

“The band uses a lot of synthy, ambient sounds with very few actual lyrics, evoking a sense of humanity's beginnings.”
