Bio

According to founder CufRock, The Committee for the Destruction of Modern Music is the sound of a group that truly just wants to make, and share music, period.

Purposefully abstract, sometimes abrupt, often ridiculous, but always interesting, the Committee delivers its first EP, a rap-heavy salvo with more than a tinge of guitar work, all tied together by bizarre, random skits.

Promised to be the first of 3 such EP's this year (the next one is planned to be mostly drum and guitar based punk material), this intro EP leans towards the group's more urban gritty side, with the last two songs on the 6 song set hinting at potential to touch almost any genre in the future. This should be an interesting group to watch...

About

Former El Pus Front Man Returns with New Project, Digital EP Release
In 2006, Atlanta rap-rock band El Pus was being hailed as the city’s “Next Big Thing”, with a video in rotation on MTV, major US and European tour dates, and a blessing from Atlanta uber-producer, Matt Serletic. Unfortunately, the band was consumed by the pressures of major label stress, and disbanded  a year after their Virgin Records debut album, “Hoodlum Rock, Volume 1” was released.
Rashei “CufRock” Kali, the band’s former front man and primary songwriter, spent the 3 years following the dissolution of the band behind Atlanta’s musical scenes, collaborating with acts including Universal Recording artist (and recent Grammy nominee) Anthony David, and Motown/SRC alt-rock band Heavy Mojo, as well as providing production and songwriting for some of Atlanta’s rising underground stars, including Slick N Rose, Coupe DeVille Theory, and Proton.
While working on these projects, The Committee for the Destruction of Modern Music was born, primarily as a vehicle for Cufi to remain creative as an artist, and to make music from the least “accessible”, but most inspiring, tracks that he created. The “Committee” name came about as a response to the formulaic nature of modern music and radio, with the theme also speaking to the current shift toward digital music distribution and the increasing independence and creative freedom of recording artists.
The Committee’s debut EP, “An Introduction to the Committee Agenda”, is a romp through a plethora of musical styles. Starting with the techno/house/rap mash-up, “Put It”, and ending with the sparse percussion and guitar funk of “xxxxxxxxx(untitled)” , the 15 minute, 6 track EP covers a good deal of musical ground, including an homage to the rock-rap style of Cufi’s former band  El Pus on the guitar and 808 laced “Jeah”, and the project’s lead single, “Superman’s Daddy [pt.2]” which appears equally influenced by Atlanta’s urban club culture and The Superfriends.
The disparate project is pulled together by consistent, minimalist production by the artist, as well as twisted humor, and sometimes bizarre wordplay.  The EP (1 of 3 planned CFDMM EP projects) is being released digitally via free download on The Committee’s Myspace and Facebook pages, and is also available via direct download from the band's ReverbNation.Com site.
