About
Matthew Gaskins is a musical artist from Bolingbrook, IL. He began writing music around the age of 15, but it wasn't until after high school that he began to take his artistic talents seriously. When he was in high school he was given the nickname "cracker jack" (CraCajaC) by one of his good friends - and it stuck. His music is a direct reflection of his life, with things that he has experienced and has seen happen around him. "We are constantly at war... life is a continuous battle against temptations that lead us down paths of demise." Matt prays that his songs will ignite hope and provoke thought to those who are facing similar trials, and in turn, help to fix their eyes on Jesus. "There is always hope in the blood of Christ." Matt writes and produces his own music. He serves at his home church as a sound tech and actively participates in the worship and drama ministries. CraCajaC has currently released a 9 track album (Percussions) on September 23, 2006.
CraCajaC has shared the stage with several other big artists, such as John Reuben, Falling Up, Mainstay, and The Wedding. Other artists he has performed with are Zeke, Lyricalize, Reality, Niambi Michele, Altar Nation, and Chosen Homeless.
After participating in a first year Christian festival in September, and finishing off a northeast fall tour, CraCajaC will be in the studio this winter working on his sophomore album.
CraCajaC's main draw is in the Chicago area, at colleges and universities such as Trinity Christian College, Prairie State College, North Central College, and Trinity International University. CraCajaC has also performed at 89.7 Shine.fm and won their Summer of Independent Artists Awards in 2005. He has also performed at several music venues and churches in Downers Grove, IL, Naperville, IL, and Bolingbrook, IL.
CraCajaC has slated a national tour for the spring with Connecticut based rock band, Holyfire (www.holyfiremusic.com), for the month of April 2008 - which will tour to states such as IN, IL, IA, NE, CO, TX, and AZ.
CraCajaC is currently booking for all western dates in the spring 2008 (April).
