Bio

Being a product of Brooklyn, New York, Coole High's style cannot be summed up in just one word. It's a mixed bag of flavor for your ears. The Music: Hip Hop, Jazz, Funk. The lyrics: hardcore, underground, intellectual. Coole High's songs cover everything from politics of the world to the politics of the music industry. He raps about the effect of drug trade in the hood and its correlation to the corporate world. But there are also several sides to 'Mr. High'.

About

Born and raised in Brooklyn, Coole High has always been a part of the music scene.  As the son of a Trinidadian saxist, Coole feels like music is more of a legacy than just something to do, so he began his pursuit of the piano.  Growing up, he was always into talent shows and school concerts.  He was also known for his poetic gift of writing.  In 1995, he began to take his craft more seriously and by 1999 developed the concept for, and produced his first album "From The Ground Up".

“Down with Queens rising star Cee Rock “The Fury”, Coole High delivers a compact seventeen track CD album.  His butter smooth flow reminds me of early Diamond D songs, but with a special style that makes him the man.  The groove of “Stiflin' MC's” is on point and the ideas in this album are brilliant.  This is an MC with an excellent standard of lyrical capacity.  Tight as fuck.” – RAGO MAGAZINE ISSUE 5 (Summer 2002)

ReddOktoba Productions was incorporated by 2000.  Since then Coole has worked with various artists and distributed cd singles of his more recent works.  Having released his second album, “New Altitudes – State of Mind, he is currently in the studio putting the final touches on his third album.

His tracks reflect the music he loves and has been inspired by -- a combination of laid back, funky, jazzy, hard core, and soul.  His lyrics reflect the issues and times.  Naturally artistic, Coole designs websites during the day and is in the studio creating music at night.  Coole has held down showcases around the New York City area for the past few years including Wetlands, Decade, Chelsea Lounge, Peppers, The InfraRed Lounge, and Groove, to name a few.  Since 2001 Reddoktoba Productions has hosted their own showcases which were held at Infra Red Lounge in Manhattan, and Cafe iimani's in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn.

Coole High developed/designed and maintains his own website (http://www.reddoktoba.com)  created to keep the hip hop world informed of the progress of Reddoktoba Productions.  (You can also check the ezine portion of the site "The Riff".  The Events section lists reviews and write ups of past ReddOktoba events).

Coole is currently working on the soundtrack for the martial arts/action film, "The Empty Hands" - an action film featuring a predominantly African American cast filmed in and around NYC.  He is also working on several artist projects including a compilation project with DJ Scandales, collabs with Don Samad, tracks for an overseas recording label with Cee Rock “The Fury”, and Tah Phrum Duh Bush collectively known as 3DA, also his third album titled, “Futuristically”.
